Anyone interested in HIDs for their 2006 - 2009 - Check this site out...

I was reading in my Modified Mag about a company called The Retrofit Source that makes all different types of HID kits for vehicles. They offer a kit for vehicles already equipped with halogen projectors that uses a simple bolt in HID projector. Simply remove the old projector, bolt in the new add the ballast and the bulb and viola! Even though the factory projector will work, replacing it with a HID projector will eliminate hot spots, blur, etc.

The kit is $300 for the 2006-2009 4Runner, and can be found here:

Click on "Complete Retrofit Kits" and then look for the Morimoto Retroquick kit. I was actually surprised that of the 7 vehicles available, the 4Runner was one of them.

I plan to order mine Monday. It does require separation of the plastic lens from the housing, but I've done this on my S2000 already using the oven with no problems. You just have to be very careful!!

Im planing to do this in a month , might need to modify the projectors some to have more color flicker. But from the emails I get, lightwerkz says it's nicer.

got my order yesterday, morimoto mini d2s projectors and the brackets, ordered some amp to d2s adapters, and also some 50w 5000k d2s bulbs too, not bad for about 230 bucks. will install this saturday, tested the bulbs and projectors out, alot better than oem halogen projector.

If my credit card doesn't explode between now and August, I'll be retro-ing my 4Runner with Lightwerkz. They are currently doing my 07 Civic (RXprojectors/E46r shrouds/Lightwerkz ballast (digital)/4300K). I'm sure they will be really nice, if I'm completely WOWed by them, I'll do my truck.

This is my first retro, but I have bake these lights several times, look for my backing out headlight thread, it has pics of the stock projector taken out, these quick retro takes place on the factory mounts, they include a plate and some screws to install to the adapter plate, then install back to the stock usin stock screws, and then reassemble the lights again. It's simple. Gona play with the lights one more time to see the cutoff, I didn't seem to see much blue cutoff line, this will need to wait for tonight.

I ordered the 300 dollar kit. Was real simple, the whole project took about 2hrs, and most of that was trying to make the wires look neat and removing my old kit.

finally got done, started at 2pm and finished at around 530pm, now got to wait for dark out, everything fit nice and perfectly, the new projectors lens is a lil small, but the plastic where the lens mount covered it up nicely to the stock trim. gona see if i can take some cell phone pics of these.

i think u can put the morimoto h1 projector inplace of high beam, i think theres a adapter plate, i know this morimoto d2s projector has an adapter plate for h4. but so far im prettty happy with the output of these projectors,a lil more tweaking and its perfect.
