Anyone know this part number?

I'm missing one of the two little plastic clips/covers that hide the seams in the weatherstripping along the bottom edge of the lift gate window, just before it curves and goes vertically along the sides of the window. Has anyone had to replace this? Care to look up the part number? 2005 Sport V6.

Updated above, although it seems that the rear window/weatherstripping has remained unchanged through all of the 4th Gen iterations (judging by pics at least)
 
i thought they were all the same too, but what i am coming up with i wanted to make sure before i posted.

according to the dealership it is all one peice called the "run channel"

part #2 on that. ill go out and look at mine and see if thats right but i dont think it is.

the part # the dealership gave me was 68275-35020
 
Thanks for looking around for me man. I think you confirmed my suspicion--I may have to replace the whole thing just for this one little "overlap" piece. Still not sure how just that one little piece broke off though...

I'll double check my truck when I'm outta work (stole the pic above from the internetz) and post back if I discover anything new.
 
i think youll have to replace the bottom weather strip peice, as i wiggled mine is seem like it could have been easily ripped off.

I replaced my bottom piece a few months ago but not the rest. If I recall correctly it just presses on (it took about 3 minutes). The part number for that is:
68290-35031 Liftgate outer weather strip​

I just noticed yesterday that same piece on mine is pulling away so if you do install a new assembly, please post some tips and photos on the site. I'm eventually going to have to do the same thing. Bummer that it's all one piece.

Do you recall if this bottom piece included plastic end caps that overlapped the other assembly?

I stopped by the local parts counter last night and tried to figure it out with the sales guy. He ended up ordering both weatherstripping pieces for me and said I can check them out when they come in (don't necessarily have to buy either of them). I'll post back with what I find out.
 
I replaced both the weatherstrip and the run channel on the liftgate just last month:

Part# 68290-35031, WEATHERSTRIP, ASSY (this piece is the outer weatherstrip or "belt" that is horizontal (with the end covers).

Part# 68275-35020, RUN, BACK DOOR DL. (The Run is the entire weatherstriping that surrounds the entire window).

The Weatherstrip Assy or "belt" has the end cap or cover on each end. In fact when I took off the original I could pull each end cap (or cover) off. I almost kept them, but since I just replaced the entire unit, I ended up throwing it away. AFAIK, those end caps or covers cannot be replaced separately - it was part of the 68290-35031 part.

The Run channel does not contain those.

The weatherstrip is easy to remove. Roll down the window and from the inside pop up one end with a screwdriver or something similar. Once started, you are able to pull the entire unit up and off. Replacement is easy too, just position it and push it on until it clicks into place. Just take notice of the wiper stop.

Piece of cake, probably took me five minutes to replace.

Stopped by the dealership parts counter on Friday to check out both assemblies, and as stated above those little plastic caps come with the 68290-35031 part. The parts guy tried to charge me $32, but I got him to let it go for $25 (really only a $15 part).

Installation was cake (also mentioned above).

Some of those dealership charge more than the MSRP. $25 is a good deal! :bravo:
 
Lift gate weatherstripping

Man was I glad I searched for this !! After washing 4r noticed alot of water on the inside of the gate , noticed how bad it was dry rotted order in ! Thanks to all who went before .
 
Thanks to everyone for the great info. I was able to finally replace the ones on the doors. For the life gate I had only ordered the bottom piece, but now I'm going to just replace the whole thing because it's going to look odd if I only do the bottom since the run channel is so faded.

ok so looks like the 68290-35031 is about $20 the 68275-35020 is about $95 im not sure if I do need both but on my gate both corners are missing. If I do need to replace both do I need to remove the interior panel or power window to change the large moulding ? or do they both just simply push in? I have a 03 4Runner Limited 4x4 V8 I bought yesterday. What a blast to drive !
 
Wow, it doesn't seem like 4 years have passed since this thread started...

I only ended up replacing the bottom piece of weatherstripping (68290-35031). I didn't need to remove anything, just roll down the window, pop the old one off, then press the new one in.

I'm assuming the other one (68275-35020) is the same, you can probably just have the window rolled down, pop the old one out, and press the new one in.

Hey all, 2007 SR5 here, just noticed a ton of water inside my gate too, was able to drain it all and no electrical issues but yeah, def needs replaced.

Sorry if this was stated, but does this part also cover the interior stripping? That seems to be the part that is the culprit on mine, although I am also getting some separation on the right side that others have seemed to have. Just want to make sure I get the right parts ordered when I call it in.
