I do a fair amount of skiing, camping, hiking etc and have always wanted a back up in case my phone were to die or i was in an area of poor signal. They are running a deal right now where their products are 50% off and the yearly subscription is about $50. I think the previous generations didn't perform that well but i've read good reviews on the gen 3. Anyone have any experience? thanks!

Sorry the copy past feature is broken on my computer but a real quick google will take you there and they are on for $85 (canadian)

I have a SPOT Tracker that I use to track the 4Runner in case it is ever stolen. My Dad has a SPOT Gen3 that he uses occasionally. I like SPOT devices. They're really tough and built well, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Couldnt recommend a SPOT highly enough. We all have 1st gens that work just fine, but I've been thinking about upgrading to a new one. Its an excellent insurance policy in case SHTF out there

SPOT trackers are awesome. We use them on our race bikes in the desert. Well worth the investment. Had a bike stolen in Baja a few years ago & we were able to recover it in less than 6 hours.

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify the one I am buying is the device which tracks people and can send distress calls.. Not the spot tracker.. But those look pretty damn cool too.

SPOT are all trackers. Gen 3 is just their latest model. They are designed to be an emergency P.L.B. first & foremost. Worth the money if you plan any trail or off-road time.
