ARB Compressor in a Case

I received my Compressor in a Case last week.

I have a hard time remembering the model number off the top of my head, but without looking, believe it is an ARB CKMTP12.

I purchased it on a whim / accident. Prices at most sites are ~$830. I found one site at ~$800 shipped, then an e-sham ad at ~$750 shipped with a make an offer option. I offered $700 and it flew. I was surprised....

I have been looking at the Viair 450P for a long time w/o pulling the trigger.

This compressor in a case is very nice and am glad to have it.

I am looking forward to trying air tools.

So far all I have done is blown some air and lowered one tire down to 18 lb and then back up to 41 lb. It is very quick to refill. I took a cell phone video, but somehow it did not record.

Sweet man! Sounds like you got a steal! So, do you plan on mounting it or leaving it in the case?

Leave it in the case. It is real well engineered. The flexibility / portability is unmatched. I was a bit unsure about the purchase because I had not seen many reviews, or any independent reviews, but it looks like a great tool.

I know several guys purchased the other model of the ARB twin compressor for ~$500 and then had custom brackets fabbed that cost ~$200 and have nice integrated systems that don't require connecting battery leads, but I think this was a good option for me.

I wish it fit in the cargo drawer I built, but it is a bit too deep. Retaining the slider tray prevented me from building the draw as tall as I would have liked. Right now I just have it strapped down in the back.

yes. the air tank is what gives it the capacity to run air tools :gossip:

I thought of another option I considered. It was a CO2 Power Tank. Fast to fill tires and could run air tools, but this is better because it is smaller, unlimited supply, no additional cost to refill, and no x-plosion risk

A CO2 cylinder won't explode. The rupture disk may go, but your are not dealing with the pressures that you would if you were to have a cylinder filled with air, nitrogen or helium, etc. Obviously there are still safety issues if the disk were to rupture in a closed vehicle with a person inside, but you aren't going to have pieces of steel flying around.

I once bought a 7-piece harmonica set and completely forgot about it until it showed up in the mail 2 weeks later. It was like my drunk self bought my sober self a present...I'm so thoughtful!

And yes, a power tank won't EXPLODE, but as stated in the unlikely event it "lost pressure" I don't think I would want to be anywhere near it. The powertank is another good option and if it was not so expensive I probably would have purchased it a long time ago instead of this. From what I know right now, this compressor in a case just seems better. We'll see if that belief holds up after some use.

I'll try to take some video of it in operation later to test how quickly it can fill tires.

Used mine a lot on my just completed trip to the Rockies. Just one word for it, "Awesome". I could air down to 20 lbs. or so, then, when ready to air up it took less than 10 minutes to get all four tires up to 45 lbs. Just set it in front of the truck and attach the leads to the battery, attach the hose and turn it on. The hose is long enough to reach all four tires without moving the compressor case. Now that I'm home I like the fact that I can take it out of the vehicle and don't have the extra weight in the truck (it is pretty heavy).
