Camping during a big Bear run could be done a couple of ways.

-If only a few rigs are camping, we could pick a yellow post site and camp sort of remote.

-More likely with So Cal T4R, there will be 30-40 rigs :madgrin:. A reserved group camp is $120. So say 10 rigs=$12 each or 12 rigs=$10 each. As of today they are still allowing campfires at the group camps.

-Another option is dispersed camping. There is a dispersed camp site around Barton Flats that we wouldn't have to reserve, is huge, room for dozens of campers, no facilities, park how ever you want, bring your own table, but no campfires. I haven't been there in years, but the ranger on the phone confirmed my faded memory of the lay out.

I'd want to "pre-run" these to get an up to date idea of what the conditions are.

I spend some time inside JTNP for work most weeks. It's still warm (and by warm I mean hot) even at 4300', like near Jumbo Rocks. But that's just me. I think my office is hot at 73*. :sobbing:

Just my thoughts...

To give everyone idea of the weather difference ..I'm good either way since there both cooler than my daily 110 - 116 deg avg

Miah, I worked in Indio-Thermal-El Centro for years. I feel for ya! Hell, you do outdoor mod days in that chit don't you? :loco:

I'm back...for a bit

Gents, I wrapped up another grad school term last week. Classes don't start up again until the end of the month, but I opted to take online classes for a break from all of the driving. I should be able to make at least a couple of meets before the end of the year...definitely have to get back out on the trails. Unfortunately, for this August run, I'm working the weekend.:sadwave:

About damn time... Lol. Sounds awesome man, glad too hear your getting school all knocked out.
Well you pick which weekend and just roll with it ...whoever can make it will make it, pick it & stick it.
If you would rather be that first weekend I say do it and that will be our August/September Meet & Run which at this point would seem like the best call since there's nothing solid as of now for this month ...I've just been super busy my rig has been down for two weeks I just literally got it all out back together and rolled it out of the garage ..thank god!
and with the heat lately it doesn't help for wheeling destinations or its attendees. Lol
 
Yeah, it's been about 110 degrees at work for a while, way too damn hot. The Aug/Sep run sounds like a good idea. Let me double check and make sure that weekend works and we can work on it.

I agree with the above.

I should get my sway bar mount tomorrow but have family in from England so I won't have time to get tires until next week at the earliest.
 
Just an FYI for those going to Joshua Tree. It is usually 10 - 15 degrees F hotter on the 4WD trails in JT than at the ranger station and campsites.

I went to JT last year in APRIL and it was 85F by 10am (it got even hotter after we headed out) at our campsite and that day we drove into the moutains on the North eastern side of the park eventually hitting temps of 105 F on the trail.

You can pretty much add 10F to any trail run. It may very well be a scorcher!
 
I may make September depends if I have Saturday medical coverage. I for big bear if JT is too hot.
