mit_peid said:Actually the disc doesn't work very well. I tried loading it and it just halted. I had to place my original v1.2 back in to get it going again. I think the two possibilities are:
1.) Perhaps the AVN5500 disc was not meant for the AVN5435?
2.) Perhaps it was just a bad burn.
mit_peid said:I just got my disc from nyc4runnin today in the mail as well. I popped it in and although it took a while, it did read it. I looked it up and it said v1.3 DVD map disc. So thats good. I think I also need to disconnect the power, or at least take out the fuse reset the stereo. Anyone know which fuse?
v1.2 was what came with AVN5435 originally. v1.3 comes with AVN5500. and v1.4 is what is being sold separately.
Also, another question, does anyone know if v1.4 software will upgrade the Ipod functionality of AVN5435. If it does, I'm in for sure!

ozrazer said:so with this secret menu procedure were you able to load v1.3 map disc with no problem and everything else(poi and address search) also work the way it should be.
davisc23 said:I wasn't able to. When I hit the "Loading" button on the hidden menu, it said "check map disc". Using the original 1.2 disc worked fine though and it seemed to reload the original firmware and set everything back to the system defaults.
mit_peid, were you able to get it to work using that menu?
mit_peid said:I'm currently using a burnt v1.4 disc and it works very well. The MP3 functionality seems to work a little better and filenames now come in upper AND lower case.
Street mapping (75 ft maps) with buildings in major metropolis type areas (ie downtown LA) seems to work good as well.
Does anybody know how to get the wallpaper function to work?
