So i did some searching and I saw several posts of folks saying they had an ARB awning for right around 200 bucks.

When i looked online, all the awnings I could find are closer to the 280 - 300 dollar range....

was the 200 dollar version an old model or smaller??

Thanks

Yeah I'd love to find a nice discount too, I know the sizing did change so that may be a factor but I think the occasional coupon does exist. I just haven't found it...

Dunno about ARB but smittybilt has a couple of awnings for under $200

Seen them in person, seemed ok quality. I bought a 6.5 foot one but it has not been delivered yet.

Overlander Tent and Awning - Smittybilt

The 8 foot is $199 generally and the 6.5 foot is $179
The 8 foot was pretty long for a 4runner! But if you had a full rack it might work ok (Would be sticking out in front of the top of the front windshield though)

damn your right !!!

but you can just roll the window down if you need to get something the back.

But you are right that would be more of a inconvenience...

Yeah, I really want one. I even had the idea of extending over hood instead of rear hatch

I hadn't noticed that but I believe you're right.

He's right! :naughty::dancin:

On a side note, love my Ironman 4x4 Awning, with built in lights. $280

Okki

Mounting an awning to a stock rack

Thanks Warthog!

I ordered the 6.5 smitty

now to figure out how to attach it to the stock rack

98 inch CVT awning mounted to the stock rack (LineX'd.) just finished a 2200 mile road trip, bouncing back roads and 80 MPH highways with no issues. I had to reengineer the mounts provided by CVT as they didn't survive the test drive from Bend. These worked great, but I need to repaint them. Rushed to get them mounted the night before the trip.
