You don't need coolant, just ATF. I needed about 2 quarts to refill the system after it was all done.

FYI, the Appalachians are hardly mountains
I live in cold temps, from -40F to over 100F, but I hope it will be fine to run the B&M 70268 without the radiator...
About to install this next weekend...

Mine has lasted me an entire 18 months to include a move from Virginia to Western Montana towing 1500 lbs. no problem.
I did not even remove the grill to do this. 2001 SR5.

I am approaching 100k miles and passed twelve years last June; figured it was time to de-pinkmilkshakeify by replacing the radiator. I've been doing a little towing lately, so I decided to throw a B&M in there (in series) at the same time, along with a filter. Here's a couple pics:

I just got this installed the other day and when I get up to about 50 my car starts rumbling, Did this happen to anybody else or does anyone know what this could possibly be? Because it didn't do this before I installed it. Thanks:shrug:

That definitely doesn't sound normal, but it's probably unrelated to the tranny cooler install.

Since we werent with you when you did the install, you need to expound on what exactly you did. Did you add the filter like the picture shows? If so, you may have installed it backwards. Did you identify which way the fluid flows before you connected it all together? That's an important step. Are any of the hoses kinked or turning a radius smaller than 6" which would be reducing flow and maybe causing issues. There's too many variable for us all to guess at. Post some pictures and explain what you did.
On a side note, I never use the hose that comes with the cooler. Its 11/32" and when you extend the lines the fluid has to flow through, that can cause back pressure and stress to the system. Invest in some tranny cooler hose that's 3/8" ID. IMHO

Thanks to the forum for teaching me about the pink milkshake. I never would have even heard about it otherwise! Today it was warm out, I got the cooler in the mail this week from Advance and installed it in a few hours. The hardest part for me was definitely hooking the new hoses back up to the trans. What a PITA! Anyway, I mounted mine with the zipties, with the ports down. No milkshake for me!

I live in the north where cool temperatures are abound. So, adding a temp. gauge for me was just because I wanted to. Not because it was necessary. I wanted to go through the process to know if I could do it and I know I can now. I used the B&M 70268 model cooler. If it were warmer here, I would maybe use two coolers, add a pusher (not a tractor) style fan (or two), and then the temp. gauge definitely.

Yes I am getting mine today from there. What I did was that I called my local advance they are gonna order it. It gets there today. I have to call again tell them to cancel it and to put it as a stock online item. Last buy it online use code and pick it up. BTW they told me to do this.
