B&M 70268 SuperCooler Transmission Cooler Install on a 3rd Gen

I love how this is a WRITE-UP, as in "all the information you need to know is in the first post" kind of write-up....

And still, so many of the same questions. At least there are plenty of you guys standing by to keep answering them.

Eryan36, I would mount it higher up. Just make sure it is in front of the fan, so it actually gets air.

Have any of you guys had any long term issues with the mounting using the zip tie method? Just curious. Im getting ready to install my b&m 70268 and will probably end up using that install method. Thanks

17 months, and 40,000 miles and mine hasn't budged, wiggled, rattled, or ever given any indication that it wasn't holding up. It works great.

If you feel like busting out your engineering/erector set skills, use the metal brackets, if you want an easy method that works & gets it up tight against the condenser where it needs to be, use the zip ties.

So I know that I am beating a dead horse here, but when y'all close off the internal trans cooler in the stock radiator, are you filling it with anything after you flush it with water?
Or is it okay if there is no fluid it the internal tranny cooler when sealing it off?

Just seal it off and leave it empty.

I used cheese whiz, but in retrospect, I think EZ-Cheese in a can would be alot easier to stuff in there.

The best part is that I know my engine is warmed up when the sweet smell of nachos wafts into my cab.

I think it all oozed out when I cut the hoses. I just sealed it up.

yumm! I'm not a big fan of nachos, but I'm thinking of adding some onions and thin sliced beef to that cheese wiz... then I will have the sweet smell of a philly cheese steak in my cab. Where would I be if I didnt have your help doc!

B&M 70268 and 200 Toyota 4Runner SR5

I read the thread and I am not sure if it was previously brought it up.
I am about to order B&M 70268 for 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6.
Do you install the cooler in series with the stock cooler or bypass the stock cooler? One downside for running in series is that radiator coolant can mix with the transmission oil. Would you advise?

wait - that depends. are you replacing the radiator as well or retaining the old one? I replaced mine and added a cooler in series. why not have the benefit of both systems, assuming all new parts?

I too bypassed my stock cooler even though my 2000 has under 22,000miles, just diddn't wana take any chances

Are you guys adding additional ATF fluid after the install? If the B&M is larger that the factory cooler or the lines are longer because of the new route, you'll be "low" on fluid, correct?

I ordered the cooler this morning, but I'm starting to think through how much more fluid I'll need to add after the install, if any.

I only added about half a quart...checked it a couple day later and it was fine...I'll check again this weekend just to make sure.
