Backup Camera Connector Type?

I'm wondering if any of you fine folks could help with something. I'm trying to construct a bypass cable for the backup camera, Toyota OEM, and this is the male end of the camera, as best I can guess, I'm trying to find a stand alone connector that mimics this so we can make essentially an extension cord.

Can someone confirm the OEM 5th Gen tailgate camera uses this style end on the camera, or is it a pigtail?

Thoughts?

Mines had a pigtail iirc. 2010 Trail. Don't have a camera any more. Smashed it while reversing with the tailgate open. Kind of a perfect storm.

Thats gonna be tough to find. I would just cut the harness from the female side and leave about 4-6" of extra wire off of the female end. Then add the extended wires from where you cut the female side and solder the female side to the end of the extended wires and plug it back in.

I think cutting/splicing or using butt connectors makes the most sense vs trying to source that connector.

Ummmm, don't use butt connectors. They're not reliable especially if they're exposed to any elements.

Or you could just watch what 360Motoring aka Ducmonsta's Garage do it for @RiDE's SSS bumper when we install it.

Nah I trust my shop to do it, and I want to get it done before I do the Mojave Rd in mid-april.

We'll likely solder it, and it wouldn't be exposed to the elements, Bobby, the splice is going to be inside the tailgate so totally sealed up.

Please share. Are you guys planning on doing this similar to [MENTION=123371]fargo4x4[/MENTION] ? I want to mount mine anywhere that's not the tire carrier.

I am looking at doing this as well. The option I am going with is using weatherpack connectors on either side of the wires with extra length which still leaves a quick disconnect capability.

Yep, we'll use either molex or weatherpack so we can revert it if we need to do so.

Any more pictures? is the connection sealed or is it inside the truck (unsealed)? maybe you can take the pins out of the connector and insert them into another connector that you are able to source.
