OT: Those lights may be restricted, but people will still put them on just for sh*t n giggles. I think it was a year ago or so, there was some sh*thead going around pulling innocent people over with a front mount red light (like the CA CHP has). The people would then get robbed after they were pulled over. The robber even dressed in uniform if I remember correctly.

Same thing happened around here about 6 months ago, except for this dude raped a woman when he pulled he over..
 
You are allowed to keep driving until you find a "safe" place to pull over if you ever think anything is fishy. You can also call on your cell phone to check if it's a law enforcement vehicle. I know there's a specific number you can use, but i'm sure 911 works too.
 
Yeah but that's also why taxes go to law enforcement. That's what you guys are for, to keep sick *******s in line. My major is Criminal Justice and it's those people who make me want to do something other than be a black and white. I'm not really interested in rapists, domestic disputes, and tickets. I might go into the military, then come back to be a cop, just to apply for swat.

Well we need all the Officers we can get. My pet pev is crimes against chidren and drunk drivers. I've got so many on the job and off duty war stories its not even funny.
 
Ya know...one day I'd like to be a cop as well. Baja...not that you should become the official t4r.org career counselor, but is there an age cutoff to being a cop? If one was to finish their active duty contract when they are 30/31ish, can they still go to the academy and crack some skulls?

I'm pretty sure Falls is either EMT or a volunteer fireman.

Yeah man my major is Criminal Justice as well, I plan on going into law enforcement when I get out. :bigok:
 
Drew- If you want any advice on mounting lights theres me and another runner you should check out. ive mounted lights all over mine for EMS and theres Ksneubec? i believe you spell it, his rig is amazing and fully outfitted as a rescue vehicle. great guy too. always there to answer a question

I don't know if there is a cut off age. We had a guy in our academy class that was 43 so don't worry. I started the academy when i was 28. I love my job. I wouldn't want to ever do anything else. I get to go to crime scene's and traffic accidents and other stuff that people can't stop to look at. its the best.

I'm still waiting for my department to order me the rest of the lights that i am going to install (LED hide-a-way's instead of strobes, LED's in the grill and fog lamps, wig wags, and the new Whelen remote control panel) I still need to wire up my Code 3 siren been too lazy to do it. I have the Whelen slimlighter in the front window and a Star phantom LED in the rear window for now.
My department is also ordering me a new Motorolla mobile radio. Word of advice to all with HAM or CB radios, do not jump start cars it frys the radios.

I'm probably going to go with BFG A/T's. I've been dabating what size to go with 275/70/16 or 285/75/16. Rory and i have been having an on going discussion about it. He assures me they will fit, but there will be rubbage off road. I really want to go with the 285's since i will be doing the Allied spindles, DR rear coils and spidertrax wheel spacers soon. Not sure what to do.
 
BajaRnnr- I have a quick question. I might be confused here but I'm pretty sure its illegal to have the red and blues up there unless you're either undercover and the city or county u work in allow you to use your personal vehicle and u definatly can't pull some one over if you're off-duty especially if you're out of your jurisdiction unless special circumstances exsist....what department do you work for?
 
Yeah he has a point. You can't pull people over while you are off duty.

However, if you see something happening like a robbery, you can elevate yourself from a civilian to a police officer by just showing your badge and yelling "Police officer!"

Unless you have special privileges that we don't know about.

No its not illegal my department pays for everything and yes i can run traffic stops off duty because of the home land security act. and i am a state police officer i have jurisdiction over the whole state. check your facts next time before you post.:flipoff: :headslap:
 
It makes me laugh that both of you question me about my profession when you know nothing about law enforcement. thats funny.
 
Baja - I appreciate what you folks in law enforcement do whether on or off the job. I like knowing our cities are being protected "covertly". My dream was being a police officer, got held up in backgrounds via LAPD years ago, boy was I pissed!

Now back to the matter at hand. If its raining the day of our run are we going to cancel?
 
I was just asking, based off of what I have been told in all of my criminal justice classes.

Gotta love that famous "Cop Ego" though.
