Hi,
Thanks for the great advice here. I bought a 2000 LImited 4R with rear locker and am in the process of baselining it. Owner had timing belt water pump ~5K miles so I'm starting with the simple stuff. Along the way I have some questions.
I bought Toyota plugs, oil filter and antifreeze (red top) and am searching for the best of the rest.
Questions...
1. ATF; Dexron III. No longer labeled as such. I found Castrol Transmax Multi-vehicle atf. A laundry list of compatible vehicles says..
"GM Dexron III and prior". Am I good?
2. Added a K&N cartridge filter. Popped check engine light. I hear not uncommon. What next?
3. Searching high and low for a good quality grease gun! All china junk! I plan on keeping it and will spend $50+/- for a decent USA made gun. Suggestions?
4. Differentials. Looks like 75-90 in front (found Valvoline) and 90 or 80-90 in rear. I'm in the SW but could find no 90...80-90 be ok?
5. Brakes have a little grab and I think I'll replace pads, no wobble. Toyota best or??
6. Oxidized paint on hood. Clear coat may be gone, white haze over th top. Best simple compound to bring a little color back? I read something about a flat black vinyl or some such. Any other cheap fixes beside Maaco? Not ready to drop much on cosmetics as it will be a 4x4 first and foremost.
Did I miss anything?
