Better Late Than Never Build Thread

Are these not black?

Looking good!

I took my black OEM flares off and found that there had been some rubbing through the paint & some rust was created. The all black flares never had rubber edge rim so I looked around and bought this -

Amazon.com

The tape didn't stick well so I used a small amount of Gorilla Glue on the inside edge to hold the trim to the flares...small pieces of foil tape held it in place until the glue set.

It worked well and I'd bet that it's a lot less expensive than the Toyota replacements.
The trim for the Tacoma flares works perfectly and sticks really well for use on the black flares. I don't think the colored flare trim is available anymore from Toyota.

FYI, I was able to get flare trim or "pads" as they're called in silver for mine at least from the dealer. Not stupid expensive either surprisingly.

O'l faithful got a FULL detail and it was over due. I'm loving this 3D One polish, super easy to use and results were amazing. It had probably been 7 years or more since I did a full detail and paint correction. I always use a 2 bucket wash method with grit guards, but still, the results were actually shocking.

Decon wash foam bath, fallout remover, clay bar, paint correction/polish, and ceramic coated.

A little graphic preview too :)

Video in third post.

Next up re-assembly.

Looks great, Speedy. Showroom worthy. I'm sure one day your truck will be the last 3rd Gen on the planet.

I'm continually impressed with the "OEM+" aesthetic. Even just your placement for the heated seats buttons have convinced me to put some in my rig! The badging looks great, and I'm looking forward to getting a better look at the new decals.

"OEM+" I like that lol. That's kinda been my goal all a long, if Toyota had offered a "TRD Edition" of this 3rd gen how might they have done it.

You'll love the heated seats.

Thanks for posting the 3D compound been looking for something different your using it gotta be good.

Blackout nice touch with the chrome. Spying things what did you do in door handle wells?

This was my first time using the 3D One and it was awesome. Very easy to use and worked fast. Just pay attention to the pad(s) you use for your particular paint condition.

That may just be a shadow in the door handle wells. I polished them but nothing else.

Don't think they paint backside of handle it black, that some shiny paint reflecting backside of handle?

Graphics low look good! thinking of borrowing until I thought of laying it over Limited cladding.

Here's what happened with the Hellcat. RIP and thank goodness for agreed value insurance. Now gotta figure out what to replace it with.

I saw your youtube update. That entire situation on the hellcat was a tragedy. I wonder if GPS tagging of the rig would have helped?

I guess "maybe" depending on how far you're willing to go with the information. My buddy had his Trackhawk stolen and had a tracker on it. Went to the location called the police and they police never showed up. At that point do you go knock on the door or? I probably would with some backup of course but not everyone will do that. I'm a Marine so confrontation isn't worrisome to me. I'd tell the police they have 10 minutes before I go in to cover my bases.

I take it no VIN on front clip? Reason for chopping uni-body where they did someone needed front clip?
That was a slick heist with the jammer and timing of use, hhmmm.
If you could of would of located it I see that a situation getting froggy going hot more than likely
with that group. Ya think. Ain't worth it.
In a way it the times and price we pay for going social media. Take it with a grain of salt
enjoy looking for new project n that always a good thing.

Happy Holidays!

Well, I'm almost positive someone at the gym called them and told them a Hellcat was in the parking lot. I don't think they had any clue who I was. They got the car where ever they take them and saw my logo on the back window and looked me up. They realized I'd put out on my social stuff the car had been stolen so they had to make quick work of it and dump it very publicly so everyone wasn't looking for it. That's my theory.

Now, who called them from the gym is the question. Could be someone I'm familiar with for all I know. I'd never driven the Hellcat to the gym before that day.

Here's the 411 on the graphics install for those following a long. Not too bad, just a little nerve wracking.

Almost a finished project.
