Bilstein 5100s seemed to go up a lot more than 2.5" with OEM springs

Yep drove it 5 miles and let it settle overnight before measurement and aignment

Since you got that much lift, sounds like you need to put some 285s on that bad boy.

Do you think it would clear them without rubbing with 17x9s? I was gonna go 275s on stock wheels until I can afford new wheels. But 285s I think are too wide for stock wheels

This is the first I've heard of this. There's also another thread right now where someone is stating the same thing but for the 1.75" setting. I hope OP can get to the bottom of this and keep us updated. Especially since I just purchased a set of 5100's.

the spring cups face DOWN (narrow side up) when reinstalling the springs. A couple have managed to put them in upside down. This will automatically gain you a couple inches of lift you don't want.

Picture seems to indicate that the spring cup (black) is installed in the correct direction. Did a shop do the install? If the suspension was torqued down prior to the vehicle resting on its own weight, that could be the reason for the extra height.

This makes the most sense, but surprising it could keep it that high. If that's the case, those bushings are REALLY stressed right now!

Everything installed correctly and vehicle was let down to rest on it's weight before being torqued down...

Quote it is done correct, by a shop master mechanic who has done 100s of lifts and especially on a bunch of 4runners, including mine in the past...the lift gave more like 3.25" than 2.5, it still may settle more but I doubt it....I see another post where the guy who put his to 1.75" got close to 2.5" inches so I am not worried at all...it is aligned and rides great and is leveled out with the 1.5" rear spacer

"according to the shop" or you watched this being done. Those are really the only 2 scenarios that could cause this unless they swapped springs.... unless your OEM coils are defective

I was there with the guy doing it...it rides smooth as can be

Not worried at all yet makes a thread asking if it is normal...

At the end of the day it's your ride. People are here trying to help out but if you would rather argue about how your guy is a shop master mechanic then that is your prerogative.

I am not worried about it, I was simply just trying to check if others who went up 2.5" in front actually gained more than that, and since I see a thread about a guy who went to the 1.75" mark and got about 2.5" of lift I know see it is normal, and I am not worried about what some people have to say about who did my install....
