Blacking Out the Runner's Chrome

Doesn't appear anybody has responded. I haven't taken apart the light assembly, but assume it's a *****. You can do it...but expect a lil work. The general problem is it's really difficult to get a good paint for the inside of the assembly. I'm sure paint guys are aware....I'm not.
If that "chrome" bothers you....I'd tape around it (where you have the highlight above) and slap it with a few coats of Nite Shades. Not a good idea to do the entire light for legal reason (or whatever you choose), yet I'm sure you could get a nice clean look with proper masking and Nite Shades.

Just a heads up for anyone doing this. There was a lot of debate about using Plastidip vs a flat black spray paint. I used both on my runner. I used primarily Plastidip but on the door handles and the front and side lower chrome trim strips I used spray paint. On the door handles I actually primed them first. The verdict after about 10k miles? Plastidip wins..hands down. The paint chipped with rock hits...no chipping or anything on the Plastidip. The painted door handles held up better due to the primer but still had a minor chip. The rubbery resilience of the Plastidip must protect the surface of it. Anyway...just a real life bit of experience to share.
