hey Guys,

my 8" stock JBL subwoofer is blown. I bought the car with it blown already but didn't really notice it until now.. Man, is it annoying.

So what are my options to replace this sub? Can I buy an aftermarket JL? thoughts?

Yes, you can swap an aftermarket sub in there, but I also recommend a separate amp to power it. This is what I did using jl stuff. Link with tons of info is in my sig.

Not sure what your budget is like, but if you would like 2 10" subs with a 1000W amp, I have a full set up in the box with a 2 farad capacitor I am not putting back in my Runner.

I would be more than willing to sell it to ya for cheap. I understand if you want something new though.

Look at ARK's write up, it's pretty in-depth and a couple others have used this too to change out the stock sub to something better.

How much do you want?

There are shallow mount 10s that would fit depth wise, the issue is the diameter, just not enough room in the stock box to make it fit. That said, i'm almost positive I've seen where someonebuilt a custom box to go in the sane location that had a 10" sub in it. Unfortunately I can't remember any other details.

Real cheap man, I would let a sub go for like $30 bucks. Do you just want a sub or the amp too? I am in MA I would rather have it go to a good home, it's just sitting in my basement now. I cleaned my basement last weekend, thought about installing them again but really just need the room in my truck and my basement. I had the entire set up with 2 10's 1000w amp 2 farad capacitor and the sealed box for $120. You may be able to cut the box to fit the sub in the side area. That way you have a 10" hole. I think we have determined the issue is not depth but horizontal clearance right?
