Blown Amp?

Hi all,
I have a JBL Synthesis system with a JVC AVX810 HU. All was working fine, until this morning. I started the car and noticed the Head unit powering up but no sounds out of the speakers (no hiss, no humm, nothing). I changed over from tuner to USB to CD with same results. Did I blow the amp? If yes, how easy is it to replace? Also, can I replace with any aftermarket or does it need to be the same amp from Toyota or JBL?
I would really like to replace it with an aftermarket amp. Will this require rewiring the entire system and adding new speakers also?

I would first check the Radio#2 fuse in the underhood fuse box near the battery.

I second his advice...way easier to start with the easiest, cheapest, and most importantly -simplest- solution first. I had a headunit in a previous vehicle that would turn on but wouldn't produce sound. It was due to a blown fuse and there were multiple fuses for various functions for the headunit.

LOL...I didn't even think about the fuse. Thanks guys. I'll start with that. I guess I am looking for an excuse to upgrade the stock system...any excuse will do.

In that case, your headunit, speakers, and amp are toast. Mail them to me, and go buy all new components before it's too late!

Check the interface (Tyto 01?) behind the head unit.

Just check to make sure it's getting power. There may be fuses behind the radio .

Those amps have multiple protection circuits inside and are generally unkillable. I don't know anything about the JVC headunit, but if it doesn't put out digital control signals to the JBL amp the volume control will not do anything. The interface takes in analog signal and outputs a digital pulse train based on the input. Hope this information helps.
