Bluetooth vs. Phone setup

I setup my Droid for bluetooth...worked fine for phone calls, but it wouldn't stream music.

So I ran thru the setup for music player, and it streamed bluetooth music fine, but now it won't dial or take calls.

Can it not do both at the same time? If so, how do I switch back and forth. If that's the case, that's a pretty pathetic system!

BTW, I'm just running the stock stereo on the 2011 SR5

i use an EVO w/ my SR5 '11. both phones use android.

i encountered the same problem. i was able to resolve it by going Settings > Wireless & networks > Bluetooth Settings > (in my case, assuming yours) Car Multi-Media (you should see this if you have already paired your Droid).

there should be three boxes i think (not in truck, so Car Multi-Media is grayed out and going by memory): top one i forget, then i think something like Allow Phone Calls, then Allow Music/Media streaming. check all boxes and you should be good to go: stream music through BT and use phone simultaneously.

i wouldn't call the system "pathetic": the stock radio, for lack of a better term is just the "receiver": it has the BT phone and streaming capabilities but that's the extent of it. the options/settings are limited; hell, the buttons don't even line up under the menu items on the LCD! the phone, the android OS, does all of the heavy lifting. you just have to poke around the settings a bit.

that being said, if you or anyone knows how to transfer contacts via android to the radio en mass instead of manually imputing or saying each contact's number, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Tmobile G2 running Android and I've had similar issues. The first time I set it all up, I got it all to work as it's supposed to. The phone side always worked fine, but the music side stopped working after a few weeks. I don't use it much, as I usually use XM for audio, but when I checked, the BT audio wasn't functioning.
I reset everything back to factory settings and walked through the whole setup again and it's working fine now....I'm just curious to see if it stays functional this time or if it again goes rogue.

I had an OG Droid and moved to a Droid X.I was able to get the phone and BT audio (music) set up on both just fine. But then for some reason, it would stop working. I was able to stream pandora, my D/L'ed music, and even the audio portion of youtube videos for a while. Then at some point it would stop for a week or two and then start again on its own. Pretty weird and very frustrating! I now have an aftermarket pioneer setup, and everything works just fine with no issues what so ever. Go figure. BTW, my wife who drives a Sienna has a stock radio and has similar problems with her Droid, also.

Yep.. I have an iPhone 4 set up using both. Works perfectly. Lets you change songs with the radio/steering wheel controls as well.

I just got an iPhone 4 yesterday after my 3GS died on me and I had the same problem as the OP with synching... the phone works fine but I can't stream music. How did you do it to get both to work? The dealer set up my 3GS and both worked fine...

Thx.

my iPhone 4 works for both too. it has been discussed before as to how exactly to set up both. but i think after you set up the phone you then set up the BT music player. I stream music, and it will cut off when a call comes in, and music will start back up when the call is completed. I have NAV system, fwiw
