Any updates? I'm hours away from ordering a Bajarack. I was going Gobi but I'm having comm issues and I'm on a time crunch.

Hi Jason, I still haven't installed the rack because I was waiting to mount my new Konig wheels. They arrived today at USPS in San Juan and I belive they will make the delivery tomorrow. Once they are mounted I'll install the rack. From what I've seen without having mounted it yet is that it is very sturdy but I will give you a better review once it is on the roof!!!!

I installed mine 2 weeks ago. Very simple. Took less than 2 hours by myself, probably 45 minutes with 2. Use lots of RTV silicone, thread tape on the bolts. Be careful when removing the stock bolts. I loosened each bolt a little at the time for each rack foot. I know on the FJC, the threaded piece under each foot could fall into the headliner if you didn't turn each bolt carefully. Really nice rack!

Thanks. When I looked at the page for the utility rack is says 1.5 in tall. Further down the page under the tech specs it says 6 in. I'll give them a call. I don't have too much clearance to work with getting into the garage. Still trying to figure out how close I'm willing to get. I could always air down at night I suppose.

I have a problem with the entrance to my garage, the driveway is really inclined, and because I have to park the truck backwards the height of the rack might hit the garage door. If i park it nose first I might hit the back wall (not a very big garage) thats why I park it in reverse so I can use the reverse camera. I could always change the garage door but I prefer to use the $$$ to keep modding the runner!!!

No problem. No pulleys or anything. Just have to be careful to get the rack on the mounting feet and not on your roof! I placed cardboard on my roof to give some padding just in case. There is a thread in the mod section about deleting the roof rack. I used that for seeing how the stock rack comes off. If you have a TE, it's slightly different- no covers to pop off to get to the bolts. It's just 2 bolts at each foot using the "star" shaped ratchet socket. I used thread tape on the bolts and liberally used RTV silicone around the posts, bolts, and holes. No leaks yet! It's really not hard at all. Get someone to help to do it quicker!

Sorry- evidently my iPad through Tapatalk doesn't show emoticons! No worries. I actually didn't take a single pic because it was getting dark and I was scrambling to get it done. I used the "roof rack delete" mod thread to see how to remove the stock rack. I read some threads on here about using RTV silicone and thread tape. The directions that come with the rack are pretty good as well. Seriously, if I could install it by myself, you will have no issues at all! I'm in no way a mechanic!

Baja arrived today
The rack arrived today, got it on by myself in about an hour and a half. Biggest pain was getting the 8 mounting bolts that mount the basket to the brackets. There is not enough room under the rack to get a good purchase on the washer/nut so it was a bear. Easiest way I found (and Im sure there is probably an easier solution and Ill feel stupid after someone posts it :lalala: ) is to use some 100mph tape and a box end wrench to hold the nut. I found that a small dab of RTV to hold the washer on the wrench worked well. That is the only way I could get enough reach to get the nut under the short little bolt that goes down through the basket into the bracket.
Was able to mount the rack by myself by using the packing cardboard on the roof to prevent scratching. The rack itself is easily lifted by one person, just place (don't drag) it gently on top after the brackets are on.
As others have suggested, plenty of RTV and Teflon tape wrap on mounting.
Instructions were stupid simple and easy to follow. Baja did a great job of making them very clear and easy to follow. All parts are marked well and manageable.
Stock bolts in the rails were coated (very little) with red RTV, easy to remove with a 12mm socket. Plenty of tape and patience on the removal of the rail covers made it painless.
Hope this helps someone out!

I have no idea...I can tell you that I just tightened the sh*t out of mine and then covered the entire area in sealant just to make sure everything is sealed. My rack has been there since 2012ish and hasn't leaked a drop.
