Brighter Back Up Lights??

My Vote goes to” add on” backup lights… you will get what you pay for (money or amount of labor wise), see picture below for what I have.

They are mounted to metal sub frame of the rear bumper; they are turned on (trough relay) with normal backup lights as well as independently by the switch on the dash. BTW those are $20.00 lights from Wal-Mart; they work great!

I initially went with some cool round ones from Autozone UW3675, 55xatt. They sucked. Went to Walmart today and picked the $18.95 ones up, 55watt and they are much better. I put one in 1st just to compare side by side, the Walmart ones were significantly brighter with a better reflector.

I replaced the stock bulbs with two Sylvania 886 bulbs. I cut off the plug section at the bottom of the legs with a dremel tool (to avoid breaking the glass), and they plug right in to the outlet for the stock backup lights. Works great! Easy to do, and I can see 10 times better. I highly recommend it!

I wonder if anyone out there has created a hitch plug with a built in LED light for reverse that way there really is no installation required.

^ those are pretty sick! As far as just doing a bulb replacement, i went with LED's from DiodeDynamics. The brightest option (410 lumen)...they throw a decent amount of light, enough for my needs, though i doubt they'd compare to independent lights. look friggin awesome, and very good quality. 2nd car now that i've swapped out all my bulbs with their LED's

Did you go with the HP5's or one of the other more expensive ones?

i swapped my stock reverse bulbs today with some Morimoto XB LED Bulbs. The Morimotos only project light outward which i thought would be better because you get more light where you need it, but I'm not too sure. You decide which is better.
Edit: so i concluded that these bulbs are better than stock, but not by much. You can see some light out the back. maybe just as bright as brake lights or just slightly brighter, where as with the stock bulbs, you couldn't see any light out the ba c k

so you gotta wait for your hids it warm up before you put it into drive?
What bulb size you put in there?

warm up time about 3 seconds, i usually finish reversing by then, its those 15w hid kit, they give couple adapters. i dont reverse too long, since it takes about 10 seconds for me to park in stall.

Kawell reverse light bars

Just completed this mod a few days ago. I got the light bars for $15.00 and a complete BAJA Lighting wiring harness from Auto Zone which worked out perfectly. I had to buy 12 extra feet of wiring from Auto Zone as well, so I have about $45 into this mod. I will be doing a write up on this in my build thread ASAP. Note: the lights aren't on in my 1st picture, and I apologize for the poor picture quality.

Love the rigid lights has anyone tried putting the flush mounts on the 4th gen bumper? I have a set of rigid duallys on the back of my 88 pickup they are brighter then my headlights.
