Bushwacker made fenders for the 5th gen!!

Here is a couple more I took today

They look like they make the wheel wells a bit smaller looking at the inner fender. Notice they cover the lower rocker panel and inner fender vs the stock set-up below.

Gross. I'm not sure why the nuts/bolts/beadlock look is in, looks hideous to me. Leave the bushwackers to the bro'd out 1/2 ton pavement princesses.

So it looks like they will be coming out in a few weeks time from now on Bushwacker's website. (just emailed them, guess jan 2015)Customer service says they should add 2 inches to the width. So i am guessing 1 inch each side. Still confirming if they will come in no bolt styles too.

I was just talking about the way the 4runner looks not the flares, but that's okay.

These are more durable and go up higher than the factory flares. They're also pocket flares, which means they don't bump out much.

Here's an idea. Change out the silver screws to black ones. Problem solved, problem staying solved.

I wonder if you could put something between the actual fender and the flare to keep that from happening. like some clearbra type material or something. Idk, just shooting blanks here. I'm 4000 miles away and have no way of actually seeing my truck for the next few months, but when I get home I'm sure I'll play around with something and see if it seems feasable. One thing of concern with Bushwacker has always been price. They run an average of $500 for a set of flares. Idk if that's worth it for me or not yet

I think it could would work so long as the glue sticks to the plastic of the clearbra. I keep a roll of 3m clearbra around for things like this. If something is going to rub, I just cut a small patch and stick it on while I need it. Easy and does a great job of protecting the paint.

There was once a day when fender flares were made to cover the raw edge when you cut your fenders larger for bigger tires...

I did this photoshop a long time ago, but I think it gives a good idea of what cut fenders would look like if I were doing them. It would require axle relocation both front and rear moving the front forward and the rear aft to re-center in the new wheel wells.

Also I have to admit - since we're talking fender flares - the Tonka ones are pretty darn cool. They're steel and actually part of the structure of the outer body protection. There's some legit fab work on that show truck.

Always liked the black fender flares better than the color matched, it makes the truck look so much less boxy.

I ran "Pocket Style" flares on the Super Duty, cost me ±$500 if memory serves, but I don't care for the bolts on the 4Runner. Hopefully they make an "Extend-A-Fender" version too. You can always paint to match (though somewhat defeats the purpose of a flare designed to take a beating.)

I just realized I may need to modify them or not get them. I deleted most of my front plastics when I built the bumper. Looks like the front flares are one piece. Although I may be able to cut the front portion off and tie it in somehow.
