my 90deg doesnt screw into the spring, i think i need some type if mount but im not 100% sure, i need someone to tell me that has done it!
i have the 19dx and you can hear the speaker fine in the position, at least for me in my 96, idk about 99-02

Don't think it would be THAT much different for the 99-02. The bottom dash looks about the same. But I like it's a bit more hidden than being in my console below the radio and being a full DIN. Looks like I'll go with that one cuz it's cheaper as well and I don't offroad THAT much.

I think the quick disconnect or the spring goes thru the hole and then that has a female nut to screw on to the either one of those you decide to use. Then the coax screws in that.

i see the problem. you just got the spring while i have a spring mount.

you will need to get a stud mount or replace your spring with a spring mount.

so if i get that i can plug the 90deg joint streight into the spring?

Thanks OU for the link. That solves everything. Now if you know how to do a timing belt and UCA's some guidance would be great! Beer and food when the time comes!!!

good luck with the UCAs. when i put in the lift i tried to loosen the bolts for those and no matter how much
torque i applied or how long my cheater bar was, the nut and bolt wouldn't budge.
nut for the ball joint = no problem
but the nut and bolt up by the engine wasn't moving no matter what i did.

and no help with the timing belt either. i'm pretty handy when it comes to working on the 4runner
but when it comes to opening up the engine or messing with the gears and transmission, i take it to the shop

Finally got everything routed and got the right spring. waiting for this sunday for the mount! i also mounted my speaker.

Update: I got everything mounted and working this weekend. On the way back from Hollister hills I noticed my antenna going crazy, do I need to take it off if I go over 45-50? Or is there someway I can fix this? Shorter antenna?

they do that, you want it to swing like crazy absorbing the wind, if it was stiff the force will break the ant. i use a 4 feet for mine.

Mine is 4 foot as well, I know it will swing but when it starts slapping and scratching my lift gate and spoiler I get kinda pissed. I think it it's the spring. It's medium duty, I think I need a heavy duty spring. I have one but it doesn't have the right connection.

believe it or not this is a big problem for guys with 4 feet antennas. i used the heavy duty spring from fry's electronic, it works great and cost less.

Update, had my heavy duty spring on for a few weeks and its going great!
