Can you lower/adjust the OEM Toyota running boards

Need some help... I read some posts earlier about installation of the factory running boards and was wondering if it is possible to adjust them. My 2011 SR-5 came with the running boards already installed but for some strange reason they are so close to the body of the vehicle I can't even get my foot on them. Does anyone know if you can adjust them to hang lower or if there is a "extender" bracket that can be added?

Without any further modifications, you can "slide" the boards back and forth, (towards the front and/or back tires) slightly, but not in and out. In order to do that, one will need to re-manufacture different (longer) brackets.

I was able to move my southest oem running boards out (away from vehicle) by close to an inch. My oem brackets allowed a little play for adjustment.

Not difficult to try. Just loosen the 6 bolts and try to adjust.

Don't extend them too much where the brackets are touching the frame. This will give you a creaking sound as the frame flexes when you drive.
