Thats Gross Vehicle Weight and thats the max weight the vehicle can handle including cargo, fuel etc. Doesn't mean your truck actually weighs that much.

Vehicle Curb weight is the amount the vehicle weighs: From Toyota's site:

GVWR is the total weight of the vehicle and maximum weight of cargo and fuel. Curb weight is the net weight of the vehicle without cargo.

So your 4Runner does not weight 6,000 pounds. That's close to a Dodge diesel.
