Thanks for writing this up, needed more light in the cargo area.

Wired mine to the left hatch light and installed two strips on each rear side window. Here it is, day and at night with the center dome and maps off.

Just wanted to add my version to this thread. I tried to go with an OEM look/location as much as possible.

Just finished wiring up my cargo lights but put my own spin on it.
Magnetic contact switch with a magnet on the hatch panel
