Cargo dimensions (depth, width and height) - 4Runner 2012

Hi, everybody!

I intend to rent a 2012 4Runner in a few days and need the exact specifications of the cargo volume, not only the cubic feet cargo volume, with all the 5 seats in place.

So, I am asking for the following exact measures:

- Height

- Width (between the wheels and the whole width)

- Depth (specially in the tighter part, near the heads of the passengers)

Thank you in advance!

Do you need the measurements from a 4 runner with or without the sliding rear deck? Do you need the depth measurement with the rear seats full up right or full reclined, or?

Type of measurement

Jtraskell,

Thank you for your reply!

I will rent the car from Hertz.com

So, I imagine that it will be rented with the sliding rear deck.

And the best depth measurement would be nor full up right neither full reclined, but in a position usually comfortable for a 6-hour trip.

Ok, here is the best I can come up with. Sorry, I am still stuck in the 19th century, if you want metric, you will have to convert on your own!

Between the wheel wells, 44.5 inches. Above the wheel wells, 57.5 wide.

From the top of the sliding deck to the head liner, 36.5. Now, the headliner slopes on both the right, left and rear sides. so the door opening is smaller, let me know if you need that measurement. The headliner slopes right above the inner sides of the wheel wells. In other words, you will have 36.5 high for the full 44.5 wide. But it will NOT be 36.5 high for the distances above the wheel well (6.5 inches on either side on top of the wheel wells). Let me know if you need that measurement.

On mine, there is 2 back seats and small center 3rd seat. While the 3rd or center section can fold down on it's own, it also folds down with the passenger rear seat. It does NOT recline on it's own. It will recline at the same time and manner as the passenger rear seat. Since I do not ride in the back of my own vehicle, I discovered something. The rear seats recline, but it seems only to 3 preset positions. Full upright, middle and when your really drunk......The following measurements are from all three positions.

One more thing, the inside of the rear tailgate is somewhat rounded. It's the inner door panel itself. So the measurements on either side are going to be shorter then the middle.

From the back of the drivers side rear seat, to the furthers right side of the rear tailgate, but still inside the wheel well, upright 34.5. Middle position 32.5fully drunk, 28.5. From the back of the center seat fully up right, 36 inches. Then middle 34 inches, and then fully reclined about 31 inches. Obviously the passenger side rear seat will be pretty much the same as the driver side. These measurements are all estimates with a tape rule, NOT exact but pretty close. Let me know if you need anything more.

Be safe and Merry Christmas.

I just got this same request from this guy in a private message. I am suspicious.

Really a PM? Have you communicated with him before? Oh well, I wanted to find out also, so it gave me a good excuse. Be safe and have Merry Christmas.

Dear Jtraskell,

Your reply to my request was really amazing! You wrote all the details I needed and even more.

I need to carry four suitcases in the cargo compartiment.

Each of the suitcases has the following dimensions (in inches): 29,5 X 21,5 X 15,5.

Based in the measurements you sent me, I am now confident that it will be possible to carry them all!

I am really very grateful for your kindness. Let me now if you need something from Brazil. It will be a pleasure to help you!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Jose Rigotti.

Hello, Jake!

Thank you very much for your invitation!

I lived and worked near Rio de Janeiro until 2001. Since then, I live in the State of Tocantins, near the border of the Amazon Forest, in the North of Brazil, almost 2,000 kilometers far from Rio.

It would be really nice to meet you, but I am afraid that it will not be possible. I will keep you informed if something changes and I have to go to the Southern Region of Brazil in these dates.

If you need some touristic information, specially about Rio de Janeiro, please ask me, ok?

Merry Christmas again and have a nice trip in Brazil!

Jose Rigotti.
