Carolina's Build Thread

Since I'm not cool enough to have a BudBuilt yet... might as well be a poser :bluejump: I thought it turned out good though.

I probably won't end up getting a BudBuilt in the long run though cause I don't see the need for my uses. But I liked the red trim that Du, Snowrunner, LINY, and a couple other people have going on so I went for it. I'll end up painting my coils red when they come in and my tundra calipers as well when I get around to those.

Nice! I love the red theme under my Runner, sure you will like it too, gives contrast. :bigok:

So I finally got the last pieces of my lift in today. Received the LC coils from Rocki Top Auto... correct this time  and the Tacoma Bilstein/Eibach spring coilover. Here's everything...

LC Coils are from a 1997... Color codings are [Dr] Dbl Purple, Dark Blue, White = 8 wrap; [Pas] Dbl Purple, Light Blue, White = 7.5 wrap. Hope (fingers crossed) to install this on Sa****ay!

Earlier this week I got in the 2" 4crawler BL and have been putting in on in pieces over the past 2 days just b/c we've had so much rain here in Carolina. I'll have it completed this afternoon & pics will be up. Just have to drop the radiator & attach bumper brackets...

EDIT: Will post pics tomorrow. Got dark before I tightened the last bolt.

Here's the 2" 4crawler BL... I went ahead & threw this on so that when I install the suspension lift, I can get to that rear nut that is normally a PITA for most people. Suspension should go on within 2 weeks or so...

Front... can't see it really well but the valence had to be trimmed in these two locations so the front bumper could be put back on with the 2" brackets. The bump stops (or whatever you call them) were in the way.

No Longer a PITA nut :reddance:

A better comparison of before/after BL by using my sister's stock 98 Limited on same exact tires currently...

Running boards do make a big difference in height appearance. A few people asked if I had lifted my truck after I took them off a while back.

Just sold my stock running boards on CL today for $100. Didn't expect to get that much but it was an older fellow & I helped him put them on. Now I can't decide whether to spend the money on PIAAs or sliders to replace the running boards...

So yesterday I decided to order the PIAAs, the 520 ATP to be exact, over the 4xInnov sliders just cause lights will be more functional for me right now. With that said, the sliders won't be far behind cause my girlfriend stands 5'4" & with the lift I know she'll appreciate them just as much as I will :thumb3:.

Also, I've been checking the spidertrax outlet section alot lately waiting on a batch of blemished spacers. Lo and behold, they had them today! So I ordered a set of 4... they include free shipping too which is awesome. So anyone looking for some good wheel spacers, here's a good deal...

Toyota Late Model Hub Centric Spacers

...only 3 units left as of 9/22 - 1:34 EST so hurry!

Got the lift on! Finally!

After a lot of trouble last night, I was able to get the fronts in today and finish up the lift. Used the hi-lift against the upper wheel well to push the drum down and it snapped right in today. We did the rears on Friday which was a breeze. Disconnected the rear sway bar but left the front sway connected. Anyways, here's some pics. This just makes me want tires even more now but they'll go on within 2 weeks at least.

As you can see, I haven't gotten then alignment yet... tomorrow morning. Also, the front sits at about 39.25" and the rear at 41", so I'll probably adjust the front coilovers a little more to get it up to 40" and I'll have 1" of rake. Should this be done before an alignment?

Rears done... friday afternoon

It's lookin good man! Are you planning on getting some new shoes too? If so, what are you looking to buy?

Yessir! 305/70R16 BFG KM2s... I'm still figuring out what to do about a spare. I may end up ordering a Treadwright & find a 16" spare rim once I have a roof rack to throw it up on.

Get allignment after you raise the front. get everything set like you want it and then get allignment. and how do you get to your spare in the factory location? i cant raise or lower the tire b.c of the bl.

you dont have a spare tire right now?

all I did was take that tire down to a tire place and traded my tire for 33, and they mounted it on my existing spare rim...

Ok. Guess I'll have to readjust the fronts tomorrow morning about 0.75 - 1.0 inch before the alignment. I left my spare in when I did the BL and haven't attempted to take it out since. I'll give it a try tomorrow to see if mine is the same and report back.

My current spare rim is a 15" cause my SR5 came with 15" wheels stock. I traded them out for these 16" Sequoias at the same time as I upgraded from 225s to 265s about 4 years back. But it's possible that a tire place may even trade me spare rims, I just don't know...

Can you take some pictures of how you mounted those lights. Maybe some side shots too.

The lift looks nice.

Sure I'll get some good pics tomorrow. It's really simple

I don't think you'll be able to get your spare out with a 2" BL without quite an ordeal. I removed the plastic grommet that you put the tool through (on the body under the hatch) to get a little more room to manuver but I only have a 1". You may try taking all the air out of the spare and maybe you can push the tire out of the way to get to the crank above the tire??

Yea, I'll definitely air it down. If it is too much of a hassle, I may take the BL out and trim it down to 1.5" or so.
