cbielat's 2011 SR5 Build Thread

I'm going with the Countersteers again. I like the Six Shooter a lot but I feel those spokes would get eaten up for how and where we wheel. I like how the Countersteers are set back and flat inside the lip.

Yup plus they come with negative offset and in bronze, win-win

I would like the FN's even more if they found a new location for the valve stem. I've never had an issue with my stock metal stems, but they're totally exposed; one lucky hit and you're in for some heartache. I've been thinking about just plugging up the stock airway and drilling and tapping a new hole on the flat space between the spokes. Maybe a set of monster valves on the opposite side, who knows.

Yeah, I hear you. I destroyed 2 TPMS during a trip last year. I just run rubber stems.

Beach Passes & Plasti Dip Touch Ups

Beach passes went on. Really don't like the location where they make you place it. Plasti Dipped the new rear driver door handle and touched up the rest.

Is your rack the Yakima LoadWarrior? Looks like it. Can't tell if you've got the extension or not. It also looks like it's sitting pretty low into the rails. You use the stock bars?

Thanks.

It's by Rola. Standard size basket with no extension. I have it sitting on 4 factory cross bars.

FN Wheels Countersteer Type X 7/8/2016

Second set of wheels from FNWheels arrived. This time I went with the grey color way. I've always wanted the truck to look as stock as possible and was wanting to get back closer to a stock finish wheel. These will be mounted with the 35s. Was leaning towards a steelie bead lock but the guys at FN are the bees knees and I like their wheels so I just had to go back. I also like how light they are and it does offset the wight of the tires. It won't be long until they look like my current ones! Thanks again, Dustin.

Body Lift 7/9/2016

Received my 1" body lift from my buddy Leroy bandiworld today. Thanks a lot bud. Leroy makes them and he even includes a step by step instruction sheet. Nice job, man.

Mounted the Rola roof basket.

You're the only 5th gen I can find with the Rola mounted - looks great. Did you simply use the provided mounting hardware to the factory rails? Just trying to get an idea of what it'll look like height-wise on my 5th gen once mounted - headed to Glacier in two weeks and thinking it's a good time to pull the trigger on an inexpensive roof-rack.

Appreciate it!

Yeah, you use the provided mounting hardware to mate with the factory cross bars. I have since thrown in 2 extra cross bars to disperse the weight. I carry my second spare and High Lift up there. Probably won't be carrying the new 35" spare up there because it's too damn heavy to lift and I'm too short so I'm not sure what I'll use it for besides to mount the High Lift.

My friend has one on his 4th ten but he has different brackets from a different company made for the Rola to sit it down in between the factory rails. It looks nice. I've been pretty happy with it over the past couple years.

Great thanks - I won't have as much weight up there (camping/fishing gear) for now, but sounds like the extra crossbars are a popular fix if there's concern. Assuming I like it as much as I think I will, I might just have to get some custom mounts fabricated and ditch the factory rails all together.

Thanks for the response!
