Cheap 4th gen snorkel option from Australia

So, i cant remember the thread where i saw this snorkel being discussed,
i am interested in the snorkel, and i would like to hear reviews from people who have installed it

I got that snorkel today, so far, upper bracket to a-pillar is not compatible. Quality looks good. I will start installation this Saturday probably.

I've been running that snorkel for a few years already, I did not use the bracket for the a pillar.

Pretty simple install once you get past drilling the fender, its a piece if cake.

Once installed the snorkel will be a little tilted towards the left but it didn't bother me enough to get a heat gun to try and straighten it, also it wont sit flush with the fender but the gap isn't that bad, I added a little urethane silicon for extra strength and to fill the gap.

Did not use the piping it came with, made my own with pvc pipe and high quality racing silicone hoses since I had to adapt it to my afe intake.

All in all its a nice option to the Landcruiser snorkel that looks like a big arm on the side, I've put it to the test going DEEP and it has worked marvelously.

Actually gave it another touchup on the silicon a few days ago.

i was thinking similar...for anyone thinking about this now im pretty sure theres one for our models about to be released.

I had to install stock air filter box back because my cheap cold air intake didn't have full enclosure and my hole saw haven't showed up yet. So mine will go on next week hopefully. I will try to use stock extension pipe that came with a kit. Therefore i will start installation by mounting that piece first and then do the rest of the aligning before committing to drill any holes. I may even use provided template.

I'd say about 160-180 give or take, The biggest pain was making it work with the afe intake box. Getting the snorkel was not an issue, I'm in Panama, central america.

Pretty sure I can throw a rock and odds of it falling on a prado are pretty high:wave:

Don't be confused its a china brand snorkel, I highly doubt you'll be getting some real aussie made product.

I wouldn't have my hopes up on a safari/dobinson brand snorkel for the 4th gen. Its been quite a few years already and the 5th gen has taken over.

Lol, you gotta commit. I went full caveman on it with no template, eyed everything with the snorkel and a sharpie.

Once you drill the holes you are gonna have to mill them to adjust the position of the snorkel, don't worry about how its gonna look. Throw some paint and urethane to seal it after tightening the bolts and you'll never see that part of the fender again.:fear:

Well, i installed my snorkel. It was a pain. But oh well I couldn't afford non existent safari version. Had to use a heat gun, it doesn't look nice as it was from the box but it works. I will take it apart again to refit it better so I will make some pictures. But honestly if you can afford the right stuff, go for it. The major problem of this snorkel is body lines. It almost doesn't match 4 runner a pillar and fender. But on a bright side its 167$ CAD. and it may look better after i fill the gaps between fender and snorkel with rubber door seals from local hardware store.

This is how mine sits, i'm pretty happy with the way it came out. Like I said there are 3 options on snorkels that can work and none of them are a direct fit.

It aligned quite nice with the a pillar.

Did you had to use a heat gun at all ? Also did you notice looss of power at the top end? It feels like my truck lost some. But since I used a heat gun, i think that i squeeshed inner diameter of the pipe to the point that it created a partial restriction

Thanks for posting the install pics. Kudos for trying it out, but I'll be honest, it looks like it's been damaged. Is it just the camera angle or is the head really leaning over a lot?
