Just got caught up on your thread. Looking good! Looks like you had a great time. You sure did sink the rear axle in the mud. Surprised you got out of that without any assistance.

That was Chuckles first "stuck" . Actually his second, but that's another story. :bolt:

Well, I got one completely pressed together! Tommorrow I'm going to get some "new" studs (the 4 that are on the backing plate) from the junkyard because I messed up the threads tomorrow. Then, I'll replace the bearing on the other axle shaft and put the axle all together!

Once you figure out how to do the press work, it's super easy :lasercannon:

Hopefully, I'll be rolling the axle under the truck next weekend.

I got the 4Runner 2 years ago today! Time flies...

Sure has come a long way. Some things are a lot better and some things are worse (the scratched up paint :crybaby: ). It leaked like a sieve when I got it and now the only thing that leaks (a new leak) is the steering rack. Everything is so much tighter than it was and it drives great and vibration free now. I've been on so many great adventures in my 4Runner and I am so glad I can go wherever I want!

It's been a great progression to watch, looking forward to the continuing saga. You've done so much with it, keep up the good work, fun trips and excellent reports and write-ups.
Also scratched up paint isn't a 'worse', it's the writings of an adventure story.

Well, I didn't get as much done this weekend as I was hoping. The relay for the E-locker still hasn't arrived, so I can't finish that up yet.

I did run the wires though. The Tacoma harness was exactly the right length! The ground wires went exactly to one of the tie downs in the back and the rest of the wires went right to under the back seat where my fuse panel is.







I got my backup air compressor mounted in the passenger side behind the panel.


I got this side sealed up from when I cut the pinch weld. I didn't know I had broke through, but there was a bunch of mud in the bottom.... oops

Step one of project "free gas tank skid"


So the 1 year old O'Reilly's caliper was seized and just about ruined my passenger pads. This winter, I'm going to get some Akebono pads, paint the calipers, repaint the rotor top hats, and get the rotors turned.

So it doesn't look like I'll have the E-locker in before the next wheeling trip, so that'll push it back to at least November 29th.

I also got my fender rust fixed- hopefully for good. I used rust converter on it then put 2 coats of rustoleum on it. Last year, I just used some Ace Hardware brand rust stop paint and it didn't work that great.

I forgot to post a pic of my new offroad jack! It's an aluminum harbor great one. I can pick up the whole front end with it. Sure does beat an old bottle jack!

Ughhhh... what's wrong with the forum? My pictures are always oriented correctly on my computer then they turn sideways when I post them

You need one more add on Chuckles, a Ravelco...

They, the dirt bags in Houston, quit trying to steal my F250 when they saw I had a Ravelco. They cannot hack these. Car alarms can now be hacked with the right computer software. Not these. (Note to self, do not loose plug no matter what !!) :amen:

I could do a lot of things for cheap if I needed more theft protection that what I already have done to mine. And no, I'm not putting what I have done on a public forum :lmao:

Pickett trip report!

I had an awesome weekend! We had me, an FJC, a TJ, and 2 XJs. FJC got some bad body damage, I got a small dent in my rear quarter panel and a dent in my front bumper, the TJ got the smittybuilt tin can bumpers smashed to bits, the $600 XJ got hydrolocked, and the other Xj tore a fender flare off. We went up to a few overlooks (2 of which were in uncharted territory by me), the lake, and a few rock houses. We picked up 4 full kitchen size trash bags of beer cans and mtn dew bottles. The place is starting to look a little cleaner since we always clean up as much as we can. I didn't break anything this time, so that's a plus. I definitely had a blast!

Pall Mall overlook





The "secret?" overlook we found. It was on an unmarked trail that dead ended and had a short hike to it. It was very overgrown and I don't think many people go there anymore. It was amazing!






The FJC's damage.... He didn't even know he hit anything cause he had his window rolled up. Idk how that happens, but it did.
