cigarette lighter problems

I was just trying to use my cigarette lighter outlet to charge my cell phone and I noticed that none of the outlets work unless I push and hold the charger into the cigarette lighter outlet. If I let go it looses power. This happens with all 3 of the outlets in front and the one in the trunk too.

I'm not about too push my charger in during the entire car trip, so how do I fix this?

sounds like it is your charger. I had a cheapie charger that would stop charging at the slightest nudge. I bought a little bit more pricer and higher quality one and it never failed. or..... there's aways duct tape.........
 
Try a different charger since it's hard to believe the same type of issue would be the same for all the outlets.
 
It's not the charger, I tried 2 phone chargers, a radar detector, and an FM transmitter all with the same problems.

Weird how its the same problem with all the outlets, but I just got the car so who knows what the previous guy did.

How do I do take apart the cigarette lighter section of the dash and the cigarette lighter section of the trunk?
 
Ive been having the same issues - its not your chargers. Its not the fuses either. Im about to take my in and ask the pros because I cant figure it out.

It's very easy to pop that console; they're in three pieces; E-brake piece, shifter piece, and the entire front panel (radio, etc.) piece. All three slide into one another.

Open the lid on the storage compartment between the seats, put your hand in the E-brake hole and pop that entire plastic console UP. Than the shifter console piece should slide out as well. Finally, pull back the big front

Know what that comes from? Retard smokers who dont understand the click release mechanism of the cigarette lighter, so they just hold the thing in there for maybe 30 40 seconds and then they pull it out... what do ya know its RED SEARING HOT.... and its also melted some crap in there... happened to my friends the other day.... just cause the thing gets so hot it messes up the wires and stuff in there

That could explain why the main one (the cigarette lighter) but that doesnt explain why the other ones are doing the same thing.
 
I have a similar problem. Earlier today I was using my craftsman air compressor to air up my wife's car tires. I had the compressor plugged into the back of the 4runner. Well after about 3 min it shut off, no blown fuses, nothing. But the power supply wont work. At this point I thought maybe it was a fluke and that power supply was bad, wrong decision, as I did the same thing and blew one in the front about 10 min later. So now I go through the fuses again and no luck, I even replaced the relays from my friends 4runner, still no luck. Is it possible that maybe I blew the actual power supply, or is there a fuse I haven
 
Does anyone know where I can find the cigarette lighter wells? They should be pretty easy to replace. If the wells are just a few bucks each it would be worth it to jsut replace them isntead of diagnosing the problem.
