Classic Question... Will These Tires Fit???

What's up everybody...


I just put some 2" lift springs in the rear of my 1993 4runner... and it's time to change tires....


Question #1.... Can I fit 32x11.50x15 tires?

Question #2.... Obviously I will have to buy some 15" wheels. What backspacing do I buy? I would like them to stick out of the fenderwell a bit.

Yup, this is the classic question. You can easily fit 32x11.50's. I fit 34x10.50 on a sagging first gen suspention. As for the backspacing, I'm not positive what would be best for your app, but I run 4 inches of backspacing. The 10.50's stuck out a little bit, so the 11.50's should be just right.

I just got back from an off roading shop here in Washington called 4 Wheel Parts, and the guy there (he has a jacked up '86 sr5 p/u) said that if I put 33" on 15" by 10.5" wheels they would rub really badly. So is this not true?

It really doesnt depend on the wheel size of width, it is more backspacing then anything. If you get a rim with a lot of backspacing, then the back of the tire will be farther away from the suspention, and therefor it wont rub. If you get a wheel the is 10 inches wide with 4 inches of backspacing, then it will stick back six inches. If you get 4 inches of backspacing, then you shouldnt run into a problem.

So I could fit 33x12 on stock suspension?

Depending on the condition of the suspention, yes or no. If it is sagging, then no. 33's is pushing the limits, not to mention the gearing. If you dont plan on putting some steeper gears in it, then I wouldnt run them on a DD. My 34's were dogs on the highway.
