Oh btw, anyone have any tips for welding on 4xinnovations sliders? Do I weld the legs onto the plates, then the plates onto the frame? And where do the little gusset triangles go?
I'm officially intimidated. But don't have the $$ to get 'em welded at a shop.

The gusset triangles go on top of the legs next to the fish plates.
I would fit the legs and make sure you like the length, then tack it all up and fit it to the truck to make sure you like where the sliders sit. Then weld the legs to the plates before you weld the plates to the frame. If you pound the body seam where the legs sit you'll gain about a 1/2" in clearance.

I welded the legs and plates to the sliders first then clamped everything to the frame and finish welded. Paint the majority of the sliders before you weld to the vehicle as you won't have space. I used a little cheapie flux core welder when welding to the frame and got good penetration and they have held up so nothing to be intimidated by lol. The gussets go on top of the legs and the front of the plates.
If your looking to angle them upward, I stuck a simple 2x4 under the end of the slider when welding everything together and the angle is perfect.
Also (on the 2nd gen at least) you will need to angle the front legs (the longer legs) as the frame narrows in the front.

KidV, yeah I was holdin the plates and legs up to the frame and was wondering about clearance issues! So a hammer should take care of that
Oh oh another thing - I was doing some reading and came across Addicted Offroad, er, Scotty, saying vertical welds are no bueno, THAT weakens the frame and it -can- crack. Sooo I'm thinking omitting the vertical welds and just doing the horizontal, top and bottom, along with the gussets?
Has anyone done this? Or am I just paranoid?

I would never argue with Scotty, but I wouldn't do just the horizontal welds. For one thing, you're going to have a bear of a time getting to the top weld anyway. If you want to avoid vertical welds, I'd make new diamond shaped fish plates.

So far all the welds have held up to a lot of abuse. You should see the dents and creases in the sliders, and not one crack in the frame or to the welds. However - the guy that did the welding is a pro. Same guy that did all the building welds for Audi's shop here at Summit Point Raceway.

Phew. It took us 8 hours yesterday but it is DONE!
Decided using the plates sideways like a diamond was the best way
Then I painted it and my mechanic/best friend who is most awesome fully welded it, and he let me have a go with the triangle gussets- kinda scary at first but OMG it was fun, took a selfie
Once everything was welded to the frame, he chopped off the bottom part of the plates that hung below the frame, and welded that part.
Not best pic but I rattle canned it so wouldn't rust, we didn't bother making it look too pretty. Took these this morning.

So who's made some more progress? (BTW that looks great above!)
I'm still not done. Have to bleed the brakes, zip tie stuff, replace an upper freakin control arm bolt that snapped off and an alignment. Then I need to get front slip yoke shaft.
And probably do some trimming and bump stopping where necessary. And sliders if possible. I'll need em for sure.
