Clear LED 3rd Brake light pics!!!!!

cuz im on the other side of the world. im in iraq. if you want you can go to Ft meade and install em for me :bigok:

im going to buy a third led brake light, i like how they look. but i want it in red like stock.

Thanks for noticing the red reflective on the hitch brian. Thats why it is legal, I was a cop for 5 years, I sort of know what I can get away with.

on the 3rd break light, do you just unscrew the old light and put in the new one or is there any kind of wires you have to take off?

You unscrew the old light then unclip it to take it out. Then you just clip the the new one in and screw it into place.

then whats up with the picture on ebay showing a long red wire coming out the back of it?

and why do you need to silicone it?

You have to splice the wires, it is only 2 wires. I used the silicone to put inbetween the vehicle and the light to make it so no moisture goes in it. When you take off your original one you will see some type of foam on the back of the light to do what the silicone does now for mine.

It sure looks a lot cleaner with the clear light instead of having the stock red plastic on the top. It would have been cool if the light can with the same piece, only clear. I've been debating whether to get clear tail lights like yours or to go with the smoked LEDs. But I think it looks good. Thanks for the pictures.

My bad Sloan. Didn't see those wires.

Considering I would have to splice wires + add silicon + it doesn't look amazing, I think I'm going to pass on this.

I think it's great that they are making a LED third brake light, but I wish they would have spent a little more time on it and made it more OEM in apparence.

Anybody know how much a shop would charge to tint the third tail light or even if they would do it at all?

tint would most likley peel in time. i had mentioned this to a buddy who is a body guy and he said there is a paint i could use that would darken it but leave it still visable when the brake light is on. it is some type of tranparent paint or something like that. i was going to do this but just ordered the somked led light. so i'll check on who makes it 4 you tomorrow.

IMO, the red lense version would look much better. It would give off a more oem appearance.

I plan on getting one of these lights soon enough.

Maybe I'll wait to see the how the red looks from Rock Slide and the smoke looks from blk runner.

Sloan-Don't you have to be real careful with that nite-shade? Like it goes on pretty dark or something and you have to make sure you do it evenly?

I think the red would have stuck out more on my truck since my tails are clear, so thats why I went with those.

Evan

Very true.

Now if you only had a rear air deflector. IMO, the lense would probably blend better.

I was thinking about putting one of those on there, do I have to drill into my truck since it didn't come with one?

Evan

You got it.

I've seen other guys install it themselves. However, if you've a bit timid to drill into the rear hatch, I'm sure the dealer would do it for you :D

ghost, the 3 clear tails look killer! im in the process of doing a full interior conversion, and seeing yours now im going to do the exterior too.

thanks sloan
i think that was the paint the paint he was refering to. i couldnt get a hold of him but if you do that make sure to check to see if you need plastic adhesion promoter or if it is all ready in it. ill put pics up as soon as i get that 3rd led installed.
