clever way to store 2 garage door openers?

just picked up my '16 and I didn't realize how thick the sun visors are. I need to have easy access to 2 garage door openers and neither has a clip deep enough to slide over the visor and rest flat on it.

Where do ppl put their openers?

I don't have any openers anymore but when I did I Velcroed mine to the headliner lol

We programmed our 2013 using Homelink so the 4Runner is the opener. Procedure is in the owner's manual. I would think the 2016's would be similar. One thing I learned though is you have to be fast. You have to push a button on the opener motor (at least on ours) and the button in the 4Runner. I don't remember the order but it can time out giving the impression it's not working.

On ours you can program 3 4Runner buttons to work with different openers. That would free up your remotes for (in our case) for vehicles that don't have Homelink.

I don't know that it's clever, but I just slapped some velcro on the back and stuck them on the dash. White one is for the gate and the black for the garages. Easily removed if needed.

If you don't have homelink in your model, and you don't mind spending a few bucks, and you are comfortable tapping a couple of wires into your new vehicle (or can afford to have a car audio shop install it for you), then you could get one of these:

Should control up to 3 doors and is relatively simple to program, plus it looks stock and you even get the added bonus of an auto-dimming mirror!

I don't have home link and I wear transition lense glasses so have no need for the drop down storage above the rear view mirror. I have my gate and garage door openers there.

I keep mine in the sunglass storage compartment too - doublestick tape.

On my Suzuki, I soldered wires on each side of the garage door controller's switch, and connected them to a relay connected the momentary high beam switch. I'd think you could do the same with the wires from the stalk when flashing the high beams.

Happen to me once, someone broke into my Integra and stole my garage opener. What I did right away was reset and delete all remote on the opener and just reprogram the remote I had in hand.

my Trail doesn't have Homelink, so what I did was tape the remote to the inside of my arm rest. Luckily it's a small remote ( about an inch long and 3/4" wide )

OR - you accidentally leave your truck unlocked and outside for ONE NIGHT. That's what happened to me last year, and some douche stole my awesome Surly Crosscheck out of the detached garage they were able to open.

Colorado finally got smart and they no longer have your address on the registration.

Only the premium models come with homelink now? Bummer because its a great feature. That said, why Toyota decided to put lights in all the switches but those is beyond me. The average person could use homelink multiple times a day......rear locker? Not so much.
