I'm a "student" trying to figure out battery size so no schooling from me. I'll share my notes. 24F is what Toyota specifies for our 5th generation 4Runners. Some on other group buys stated you can go with a 27F with very slight modifications. You need to make changes to the battery tray to allow for a bigger footprint of the 27F. You can buy a used or new 4th generation 4Runner battery tray meant for the V8 4Runners [Genuine Toyota (74431-0C020) Battery Tray] or modify your current tray. I have a PM to Hamburgerpimp to verify 74431-0C020 specifics.
31 requires much more modifications. One item to consider if you are into heavy modifications, a marine battery (specified with M) is a dual terminal battery.

Also, ODYSSEY battery customer service sells North Star batteries. What I mean is ODYSSEY customer services don't respond so many buy North Star. I'm still waiting on a reply from ODYSSEY.

Hamburgerpimp reported that a 27F battery and a Genuine Toyota (74431-0C020) Battery Tray is a plug and play installation. Our current 5th generation tray is too small (of course) for the 27F. Thanks Hamburgerpimp.

A North Star marine (designated with a M) has a 3 year full warranty while a non marine battery has a 4 year full warranty.

You would have to call them up and they will send you a form.

Which you can fill out and they will send you another battery and send you a prepaid label for the old battery.
