COB's 4Runner Timeline (Pic Heavy)

well congrats on the CB james but ya id say to add the 90 degree adapter so that the CB will sit a little further back... makes it look nicer to me and helps with not being able to see the numbers. Just a thought and u can pick that adapter up at radio shack for like $5.

Yea if that's all you need then why not. I just ordered this one: Firestik FS II CB Antenna Kit - $49.95
The mount is temporary, since I ordered my perkins performance rear bumper with an antenna mount. I'll get some pics up next weekend since that's probably when I'll be installing it.

Cool dude, can't wait to see.

I just installed the PA speaker today, just pushed it back a tad more, fits just fine.

PA speaker is a lot of fun I might reiterate... hahaha.

awesomeness. I met a new salesman here at Fletcher Jones. He noticed my 4Runner and told me he bought an 01 sport new. He also went nuts on the options when he got it.

He gave the 4Runner to his daughter for her days in college, but still had tons of little memorabilia in his garage.

He said I could have it, since I would put it to use more than he ever would.

So, he gave me a genuine Toyota car cover designed specifically for the 4Runner Sport, an imperial jade mica Toyota jacket, and an Imperial Jade mica 4Runner hat.

Pretty sweet... lol. I'm happy with this.

4runner coffee mug... Sweet.

haha weird, I know, but Toyota apparently went nuts with Imperial Jade Mica stuff when the 01 came out. It was on the cover of the brochure and everything.

lol only if we split it!

Damn you just keep scoring the bad ass giveaways!!! What would that car cover cost new from Toyota?

seriously, what is going on in the world?

I asked him, he told me he paid $360 + tax from the dealership. The jacket and hat was $70, but the rest he got for free.

Jesus... oh well, next 4Runner meet, I'm gonna be decked out in 4Runner clothing lol

Little update. Fixed a few rattles (damn hidden coins), lubed up the control arm bushings, adjusted rear brakes, permanently mounted CB Microphone, and installed new sway bar end links (not in the mood to buy expensive quick disconnects). New alarm remote since I broke mine, got some new OEM Toyota keys made (not copies, actual VIN referenced originals, $8 each from dealer), and replaced the blower motor resistor to make the low setting for the fan work again.

its ABOUT time you did something!! lol

Rig is looking nice man! Think I may invest some time in the Runner as most of it's been going to my Supra and my IS300.

Haha agreed, nothing wrong with maintenance work though

lol it's been less than a month, am I not quick enough for you guys?

:lmao:

I forgot I did an oil change with my case of CASTROL EDGE  shocking news! ran some more fuel injector cleaner and oil conditioner.

I promise I will let the world know when I can get a day off for slider installation...

Anyone got any cool suggestions (college budget, no diesel swaps JOHN)? As time progresses, mods get harder to think of.

yea i agree..fender flares would make it look better

I totally want them, the black skinny flares are just so hard to find though. Every time I find a set, they're off somewhere weird and people want way too much $$$. If you guys find a set, let me know in a PM, I'd love some.

I've been thinking about the bumpers, I mean if I can find a real unbelievable deal, I am down... but all that weight scares my 2.7!

Yeah, CB antenna is a good one, thinking I'll mount it on the bumper end or just get a magnet mount. Need that if I wanna hit up the mountains soon with brian2sun and driffter33. Totally going though, if I get a chance, gotta see some snow!

The body shop is actually the body shop at my work. I work at the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership in the whole country, so we have a huge facility (actually the largest on site body shop in the US, also). Of course, since I am an employee, I get a discount, and also the insurance covered the paint since they were originally going to paint my old hood.

I believe if you're just going to go to a shop with just the hood itself, they'll probably charge around $200-300 for paint. The color, though, especially one like Sunfire, has probably faded a little over the years and might need the paint matched. If they can match it without redoing the fenders, too, you're in luck. They had to do my fenders in order to match mine.

Hehe well what about some sport flares or limited flares I'm sure you could find a reasonably priced set at a junk yard?

I also read Addicted off-roads front bumper isn't that much weight over stuck but I'm not sure about the 2.7 either, I mounted up my antenna a couple weeks ago but haven't had the chance to snap some pics I'll try posting some up tomorrow.

So you think $200-$300 is right? We got a quote from a guy who matched my extend a fenders for $200 to paint the hood plus he said they'd install it. The body shop mentioned that aftermarket hoods (or any body part for that matter) are not a direct fit and need to be "modified" to fit. Did you have any trouble with the certifit?
