Question- Is this a grown-ups only gig, or is it cool to bring the kids? I've got 2 boys (4 and 5), and we might be up for some adventure. Just curious.

OK folks!
Since we are only 2 weeks (!) away, I just placed a call to Daniel at The Cove. I told him to expect about 15 vehicles.
He said we are all set at Campsite #2!
This is the current list that I have- please let me know if you can't make it...

Couple of things for the newbies to remember!
*You MUST stop by the Camp Office when you enter The Cove. Failure to do so will cause them to shoot you on the spot. They will be PISSED if you drive by without stopping.
*Let's have fun but be respectful and NOT BREAK ANY RULES. There is a speed limit/dust restriction (all roads are dirt) in effect that is enforced.
***The Cove allows us to use their trails- to my knowledge ONLY big group events are otherwise permitted to do this. They bend their rules so we can use the trails- we do not want to mess that up for everyone on T4R!
*Clean up your messes before you leave. I always stay Sunday night and clean up anything left behind and I'm very proud to say that every year the place has been mostly spotless!
*It can get bitter cold at night. Some years not so much, others freeze your gahoonies off. As Frankie Macdonald would say :"BE PREPARED!" lol
In other news...
I have not been able to get ahold of [MENTION=74912]mook21[/MENTION] (Mark) who is supposed to be our un-official trail guide. If anyone is friends, or has his number please PM me! My phone crapped out all of my contacts about 6 months ago and his was one of them... No worries though because the network is pretty easy to navigate through (although EVERY YEAR we somehow wind up going the wrong way on a one way trail. It's become a friggin' tradition, HA!)
Can't wait guys!

It's fine for kids BUT- there is no playground or anything like that to keep them busy. My 7 yr old told me last night that she wanted to wait another year before going because once she was 8 she would be too old for swings, lol.
Just be aware that sometimes the boozers get a little free with their speech late at night and sound travels to little ears!

Wellll..... we are pretty awesome. [emoji38] Just kidding it's pretty laid back. A nice quiet setting with trails and 4Runners. It's pretty awesome.

LOL... thanks folks :biggrin1: I'm not worried about salty language (as my dad would say). But I appreciate the candid response! Put me down for a maybe for now. This would mark our third weekend out in a row, so it may be a little too much for the dudes, they may want a weekend of cartoons and chilling, but we shall see. I'll let you know for sure as we get a little closer!

As I sit in nowhere Kansas listening to the highway in a crappy ass campground two things come to mind. First, hanging with you guys rain or shine sounds awesome. Second, I wish I had just bought that stupid awning... :wacko: I've got a bottle of Breckinridge Bourbon to share that should make any bad weather forgotten as well.
All is not hopeless here in Kansas though as I have a cold beer in hand and the bed is made. Haha

I'm keeping a close eye on the weather as well. Looking forward to next weekend in Gore, VA, there's a 40% chance of rain on Friday and 20% on Saturday, they haven't posted up Sunday yet. I realize that can change between now and then but I am being positive and hoping we will have a dry sky for the weekend. If the hurricane hits the NC, VA, MD areas it should be done by the weekend. They are saying Monday night/Tuesday morning for here in Maryland. But..... I will be bringing my 10X10 canopy to share if need be. We brought it last year and didn't need it, but I always bring it for events just in case.
So here's to hoping for cool and dry skies and some mud on the trails!!!! :lookout:

We're going to bring a single bag per for clothes.
The Yeti with some frozen chili, sandwich stuff, and the all important cast iron pan that will cook anything to awesomeness.
Death wish coffee. I am going to bring extra as a bad influence.
6-8 beers per night is what I figure. I may even bring some Kraken rum, because its AWESOME!
Tent/air mattress/maybe hammock
Big ass tarp, yes thats the size because I don't really know the dimensions.
Hand saw, knife, small hatchet, and 3-5 guns and about 1000 rounds of ammo.
You know the basics....HAHAHA
