i dont know if ive overlooked it, will the REAR coils from a 2010-2014 FJ swap over to the 4th gen without the need for modification? what amount of lift if gained from the rear? about 1/2" ?

Yes they will be a direct swap. Most get 1/2" our less. See the FJ swap link in my sig.

^^ yes the springs themselves will work. Front struts will not without some sort of physical modifcation to them. I would say i gained about 1 to 1 1/2" in the rear

You seemed to get a lot more lift out of the rear springs then most. I was surprised to see your truck so level with the 1.75 setting up front and nothing extra out back. I think most people would end up with negative rack with that setup. IMO, Fulltiltboogie's ride has a little bit of negative rack.

I agree I would expect to need an additional spacer to get truly level. I will be doing 1" in a week or two here to get a slightly positive rake.

Coils won't give travel, you need longer shocks to gain travel. FJ coils alone will work fine with stock shocks, you don't "have" to have new ones.

If you look at the suspension FAQ sticky, there is a PDF at the bottom of the first post that shows the adjustment procedure. I wouldn't adjust over 1" in the rear, otherwise it gets extremely stiff. If you plan to keep the air suspension, you only need front coils. Also, I would suggest the bilstein HD rear shocks, they are stock length but same specs as the 5100s. Longer rear shocks could cause issues with the rear air bags.

Thank you for the PDF Ark Swamp Rider, I have seen that before and have a copy on my workbench. Not planning on raising the height in the rear at this point, the rake on my vehicle is crazy so getting the 5100's/Moog FJ coils for the front and raising it about an inch should satisfy me pretty well. I will take your advise on the stock length Bilstein HD shocks for the rear!

Dug up an old thread of yours on toyota 120 from Dec 2009 while searching, you were deep into researching all this back then..I realized we have almost the same vehicle when yours was stock that is..

I know a few of us have been considering FJ springs\5100 combo with the front set to 1.75 and a 1" spacer in the rear but weren't sure how that would look? So I went through the tire & lift thread and found 2 examples of that exact combo...

I PM'ed theliman and asked him about the settling and he informed me it settled perfectly and provided me with this updated pic...

He also informed me that with the 265/70-17 tires and spridertrax, he did have a little bit of rubbing up from but that moving the inner liner forward resolved it.

I think that looks pretty close to perfect for my needs so I think that's the way I'm going. Already have the springs, just have to order the billies and find a 1" spacer for the rear

Finally bought a 4th Gen. ('06 Sport 4wd V8) last summer and have been lurking here since then (1st post). I absolutely love this website but I think my wife is sick of it...:violin:

I just bought 4 FJ 4x4 springs (2013 w/ 2k miles) and guess I need to wait to install them with the shocks. Eventually getting 5100s, but what is the benefit of doing 2.5" setting over 1.75"? May be a dumb question, but does it allow you to run a bigger tire?

My 4R is used 98% on road but I love to have fun off road whenever possible. BTW you guys have some sick trucks!

Just purchased FJ springs from a 2014 4X4 with 4500 miles ($165 shipping included on the FJ Forum). Ordering the 5100's tonight and need to find a 1" spacer for the rear.
Now I just need to find a good 4runner (2005-2007) and I will be all set! Cant wait. Ill post pick once the purchase is made and the FJ lift is inplace.

I just ordered the parts to do this very setup, Bilstein 5100s and fjcs all around 1.75" setting up front and a 1" cornfed spacer In rear. Probably won't get it installed for a month or so but ill post pics when I do. Pm me if you don't see it on here come mid April....

Only company offering a 1" rear spacer is Cornfed to my knowledge.

Lot's of great info. Just picked up an '07 SportEd 4X4 with XREAS and 136k miles on it. I've been building/lifting Jeep Grand Cherokees for a long time and I'm so impressed with the ride quality of the 4Runners. I'm going to do some mild lifting trying to keep the XREAS for now since my 02 Jeep GC is my heavy offroading mild rock climber but who knows!

Ya I can try to get one soon, o only have my cell phone so I'm not sure how the quality will turn out. Ill post when I give it a try.

IMO Gibson has been awesome. Just the right amount for me, loud when you are on it but soft on highway and at idle, just some small rumble. Easy to enjoy on a daily driver.

Just replaced the XREAS in my 4runner with 135k. Went with the MOOG FJ 4x4 springs and the Bilstein 5100s.

Before I did the lift, I had a leak in the front. The back was sitting around 36, and the front was around 34.5 The MOOGs gave me almost 2" of lift in the back ( I did notice the springs dont sit 100% all the way on the back ... I would expect the spring to eventually settle some) . I set the front Bilsteins to the highest setting and the truck now sits even at 38 at all 4 wheels. Well see how it levels out.

The ride is great now.

Good point samslmmr, I did the exact same mod about a month ago and the springs still haven't fully settled down on the spring perches.

Do they ever settle all the way?

FJ Lift Installed! 2007 SR5 V8! Salsa Red

Picked up this 2007 SR5 4runner last week with 92,000. FJ lift is now installed and I am loving it. 5100's at 2.5" in the front with 2014 FJ Springs (used springs but only 4000 miles). Rear has 5100's with 1.5" Daystar Spacer. Sits really nice, rides great. Not overly huge which was a concern I had.
Wheels are used FJ Wheels with 255/75/17 Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx.
Just and FYI and something I had a hard time finding when I was searching the forum prior to lifting. All the FJ strut parts are interchangeable with the 4th gen 4runners (Top Plate, Rubber, etc). I wanted to use the newer pieces from the front FJ struts I bought (seller did not want to disasseble and just give me the springs so I paid an extra $20 for the full struts with all components). They all fit perfectly.

I can also confirm that the FJ Rough Country 6' lift kit also works great. I have installed 6 months ago. It appears to lift 4 runner about 7-8 inchs no body lift or Radflo shocks installed at time of picture was taken
