Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

Looks good. Mind sharing your measurements? I'm looking to go the Moog route as well. Thanks.

Measurements with stock 265/65/17 bridgestone duelers, about 250 miles to settle and a full tank of gas.

Front ground to fender~37"
Front center of hub to fender~22 7/8"

Rear ground to fender~37 3/8"
Rear center of hub to fender~23"

Did some desert offroading a couple of weeks ago. No rock climbing. Just over rough terrain and thru deep washes. The Bilstein 5100s with the FJ springs really shined. It is a nice setup.

Anyone running fj's front and rear. Bilstein Front setting at 1.75 and 1.5 rear daystar ? I got a set of fj and I have 5100's bilstein and not sure if I got 2.5 in the front or 1.75. I want to keep a litle front rake

If you want to keep a bit of rake, set it at 1.75. Here's my v8 4x4 at 1.75 with the 1.5" daystar spacer in the rear. If you have a v6 you will obviously have 1/2" or so less rake. I don't mind this amount of rake, it's better than stock and the running boards are within 1/16" of level.

Question for you guys. I picked up some fj shocks with under 5k miles and the set came with front springs but no rear springs. I would like achieve a 2" lift all around on my 03 V6. Should I get spacers for the rear and use my stock springs or dish the money and buy some lift springs??

Just got new suspension finished today on my 08 V6 4WD. 5100s set at .85" with low mileage FJ coil take offs all around. I was roughly at 33.25" front and 35.50" rear. After swap, front is about 35.50" and rear 36.50" Will see how it ends up settling. Personally, I hope the front settles a little more than the rear. As mentioned before, the roof line was designed for the rake. I can definitely notice how the roof line sinks front to back now that the truck is closer to level. To me, it almost looks like it has bro lean because of this, and I am worried about how it will sit with a full load in the rear. I think a little bit of rake is good, but to each his own.

Will the stock front and rear shocks for a 13 fj fit my 03??? I found some on CL for 150

You would have to modify (grind down) the bottom mounting eye for the front shocks and bore out the top mounting hole on the vehicle for the rears. 07-09 fj shocks are a direct swap.

Any issues getting caster and/or alignment back in spec with the following set up? Want to check before I get the last piece I need for install. If there are issues I will sell the front spacer and go down in size with no rear spacer. Thanks in advance. I usually don't post and find all my answers by reading but this wasn't clear to me as there may be issues with over 3" of lift.

Fj springs/shocks front and rear
Front 2.5" Revtek spacer (swear they only had 3" but this measures about 1.25")
Rear 1.5" daystar spacer (only piece missing)
Cooper Discoverer ATP 265/70/17

If it were me I would save the dough and just get Daystar spacers.

I've got an '03 V8 4WD Limited with the original XREAS installed. I'd like to stiffen up the suspension just a bit and I suspect that the XREAS is all done (even though it isn't leaking yet). I'm not interested in lifting the truck or leveling or anything like that. I just want the ride to be a bit stiffer and have better rebound control.

What I'm thinking of doing is trying to find OEM FJ springs (used) and add Bilstein 5100s. Can I do this without any spacers? I'd rather not add any spacers if not necessary. What setting should the 5100s be set at? Near as I can tell from reading, the typical lift will be on the order of 1/2" all around, which seems to be between the 5100's settings of 0" and 0.85".

I have a 2006 v6 4x4 sr5 and swapped the stock suspension out for fj 4x4 coils and 5100s with a rear daystar 1.5 and set the fronts the 1.75. I went from 34"(front) and 36"(rear) to 36"(front) 38"(rear) after. I did this last week and have probably put 300 miles on it and sometimes I look at it and am pleased and some times it looks odd to me. Are there any major drawbacks on the suspension parts, shocks,or steering etc. on moving from 1.75 to 2.5? has any one else had this happen? and I am aware that the cv boots will most likely leak so I have the clamps already on hand. Thanks.

I have a quick question that I could just not find the answer to:

Has anyone installed the TRD/Bilstein SHOCKS from an FJ on the front of their 4Runner, but kept the 4Runner stock SPRINGS?

If any of y'all could provide me with an answer or just point me in the direction of the proper thread that would be great! I've found a lot of people who have swapped the SPRINGS and the SHOCKS, but I haven't had any luck finding anyone who install ONLY the SHOCKS on the front. Thanks in advance!

Just a thought, would there be any benefit to swapping out the rear, stock, 4Runner shocks with the stock FJ rear shocks (NOT TRD/Bilstein)?

Anyone try the no spring comp method leaving the Xreas in place and only swapping to FJ springs and Toytec spacer lift? I hate using spring compressors. Thanks...

Awesome, looking forward to seeing it!

Also - I'm wondering if you'd be willing to take some video of your ride with the Gibson exhaust...I too have a 4th gen V8 and wanted to hear more of what it sounded like on startup...inside, outside etc..

Took me forever, but here is the lift.

5100's at 1.75"
Fj springs all around, and a 1" spacer in the rear.

has anyone heard of taking the fj springs from the front and installing them in the rear of an 03 4runner? I was told this gives the back 3 inches of lift? Sounds strange to me?

Does anyone have a picture of a v6 4x4 and any of the following (specifically):

A) moog fj springs on 5100's set at 1.75 in front & moog fj only in back

B) moog fj springs on 5100's set at 1.75 in front & moog fj with 1.5 spacer

C) moog fj springs on 5100's set at 1.75 in front & factory rear with 1.5 spacer

Got the fronts on and trying to figure out what to do. Got 36.5 to 37" in the front and the same in rear as of now with stock rear. Looks goofy. The options above includes all my options currently. Also. Good advice is welcome! Thanks!

Posted this earlier, but those who are wondering bilsteins at 1.75 with fj cruiser springs and bilsteins and fj in rear will DEFINITELY level out the front end and raise the rear. Rides very well. Next on the list 18's and plasti dip as much as i can.

Never mind. I found my winner.

Installed my FJ springs (OEM) and Bilsteins today.
No issues with rear springs not seating as on the Moogs. Personally, no way I would let mine off the lift like that. :sorry:

2010 OEM FJ springs, Front and Rear. 40k miles used.
Bilstein 5100s, Front at 0.85 and Rear.

Front Before: 33.25" from arch to ground
Rear Before: 35.00" from arch to ground.

Front After: 35.00" from arch to ground
Rear After: 36.00" from arch to ground.

F/R +1.75 / +1.00

I'm very happy with the ride, the lift amount, and the rake. Suits my needs perfectly.
