Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

Well the car is in the shop getting it done today. I asked for my front to be set at .85 but the moog spring is a bit too short to create any tension at that height and is just flopping around in there so unfortunately I have to go the next step up on the bilstein. Also LCA bolts are seized on one side so they are going to have to replace some parts on the passengers side. Looks like it's going to be a few days!

I'm wanting to go with this lift combo on my '05 however what will I need to do in addition to fit 255/85/16's. Been searching on here and can't find the answer. I did see in the tire and lift sticky I would need at least a 3/2 lift. Wouldn't I get that with the fj springs and 5100's set at 2.5 with a 1.5 spacer in the rear?

Just note that the FJ springs will give you an inch of lift in the front and barely anything in the rear. You can decide from there. That tire size could fit based on the tire shape and if you're putting on spacers which will rub on the mud flap and or inner liner.

After reading my post it doesn't really sound clear. So here are my plans. I'm going to install new FJ springs and 5100's all the way around on my 4r. If I set the front struts at the max adjustment 2.5 and add a 1.5 Daystar in the rear. Will I be able to clear the tires? Are you saying I will still rub? What in addition will I have to do to not rub and clear those tires? Thanks

I picked up 2014 TACOMA TRD shocks and front springs for $100. Can I run these AND my daystar spacers! Looks like I will need the super flex rear coils to keep some rake.

Will this be too much lift for the front CVs? I'm sure UCAs will be needed. But for $100 to start I could pass them up.

I'm running tacoma springs up front with 5100's set at 2.5, got about 4 inches of lift out of it, so you should be fine running them with daystar spacers. Cv's are fine i think...one tore a boot but that may be because i re-clamped them too tight. I have stock uca's too...drives fine. I'll get uca's eventually but that'll probably be when I get new tires.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the front springs from an 07-09 4WD FJ Cruiser? I tried searching for the part numbers in this thread, nada. I tried 4 or 5 on-line parts places and they all list springs for 2WD not 4WD.

I posted this in another thread but here is a before/after for those interested in the mod! This changed the car completely, best mod I have done. Front is set at 1.75. Looks like I have some reverse rake, but I'm not in a rush to get back in the shop and throw some spacers on the back.

Has anyone here just put a 1" cornfed spacer in the rear when doing this setup? I have my FJ springs and 5100's but don't think I want to put a 2" or more spacer in the rear as I don't want to have issues with CV boots, UCA's, sway bar link length, etc. I was thinking it would still look pretty nice with the fronts set higher and a 1" in the rear and hopefully avoid any side effects from lifting it.

This is from one of the Toyota Dealerships in my area. I just did a 2007 FJ, you'll want to double check it's the correct vehicle style and stuff.

FJ cruiser top hats

I can't find an answer to this question with a search. I'm about to pull the trigger on some assembled front struts from an FJ cruiser. Does anyone know if the FJ top hats will fit the 4th gen 4Runners? I'm trying to determine if I'll need to pay a shop to compress the springs for me to reuse my 4Runner top hats. If not, I'll be willing to pay a little more for assembled FJ struts.

BTW, theliman, that's one of the sweetest 4Runner shots I've seen. I wish we had some scenery like that near Houston. All we get is humidity.

Depending the year of the struts though (I think 2010+) you will run into issues with the lower eye on t he shock being wider, some modification ill be needed. Check this link out:

Yeah, I knew about modifying the lower shock eyelet. The struts are from a 2012. If I can't get them to fit, I'll order different shocks and have them assembled somewhere. But thanks for confirming that the top hats will fit.

Turns out Down South Motorsports is not "down south" like I thought. I was figuring Alabama, Georgia or something like that. Turns out they're like 5 miles from my house. So my Bilsteins showed up today. So did my springs!
