Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

"The FJ has 3 models, all with different shocks. The base model has Tokico shocks. The Trail Teams and TRD both have Bilsteins, although the shocks are different between the two. The Bilstein's are definitely preferred, but any of them are an upgrade based on the responses I've seen."

Hey guys...sorry I only read thru the first couple of pages, but based on the statement above, I assume that 07-09 FJ cruiser shocks/struts will also be a direct fit into my 07 4Runner (No XREAS)? I found a local guy selling some but he's selling them as a set, front + rears, shocks/struts + springs. Thanks!
Yup, unbolt yours, put new ones on. Newer years fit too but the bushing is bigger so you have to make some adjustments but easy to do.

Apparently the seller is unable to locate the rear FJ springs...do you guys think it'll be ok if I simply ran the front springs and used my stock runner rear springs? I am not too concerned with lifting the rear.

Note: this lift can be done with XREAS; it is highly suggested that you leave the hydraulic lines connected to the shocks/struts and work on them in the wheel well because if you lose fluid from the system it is ruined. However, there are ways to disconnect the XREAS if you so desire.

Hey guys. Need some help here. I was doing the FJ Cruiser coil springs swap today and ran into a problem on the driver's side spring and my stock XREAS shock. It seems like I cant get enough of this stud on the top of the shock to stick through the top hat. Anybody else had this problem?

These are brand new stock replacement coil springs for a FJ Cruiser from Autozone. I went this route because I could not find any slightly used ones for sale.

The passenger side went through no problem. I realize that the driver side spring is somewhat larger, but i can't even get the big metal washer on the top by itself with the nut to try and pull it through some more. If I put both the rubber bushing and the large washer over the stud then you can't even see the stud.

I also fully compressed the lower control arm with the spring and shock in place with a floor jack until it started to lift the 4runner a little bit.

See attached pics.

Spring comparison. The driver's side FJ spring measured around 14.5" and my stock driver's side spring measured around 13.5". Shown in the picture is the passenger stock spring and the new FJ springs.

Driver's side with FJ spring. Notice how there isn't much of the stud sticking through.

Passenger side with FJ spring installed with no issues

This is what I'm trying to hold up. Just got the SW bumper the other day. Had to pick it up from UPS Freight and it barely fit in the back after tearing half of the crate apart and leaving the lift gate open a little bit.

Put my 2014 FJ Off Road Pkg Springs and shocks on this weekend. This is in conjunction with a Daystar front 2.5" spacer and I replaced my Daystar 1.5" rear spacer with a Fat Bob's 2" rear spacer since I knew the rear FJ springs would only give me a 1/2" lift. I'm 1/2" higher on the passenger side. I will have to get that leveled out. I may try to cut down one of the old Daystar spacers to 1" and put it on the driver's side. Rides and drives great. I still have to have the alignment checked.

I realize im replying to al old post, but I am about to do bilsteins f&R with FJ springs F&R. Did you put fj springs in rear or front only. I'm trying to figure out which height to set the fronts at for a nice level look.

Thanks!

Another popular option:

FJ springs + Bilstein Adjustable set at 0.85"
265/70R17 BFG AT T/A KO (also spidertraxx 1.25" spacers)

I had FJ springs all around and the fronts set to 0.85" lift (second notch, first lift setting)

I need some advice or what you guys think. I finally got my front bilsteins 5100. I have also moog fj front springs. I am planning to put it on either .85 or 1.75. Am leaving the stock rear springs but i have 5100 rears on it now. I dont want to put spacers. The question is anyone have picture insearched but mostly everyone puts spacers ? And also will it be level with the rear or slightly higher? Thanks for any opion any question feel free to ask.

What is the lift, if any, of the moog Fj fronts?

Am not to sure about the rears right now because once these tires wear out am planning 255/75-17 and lifting the rears and puttin bigger tires dont know if it will fit in my garage

I've had my 5100's and fj coils for like 6 months because I've been on the fence forever about whether to do .85 or to go 1.75 with a spacer in the rear. I don't wheel so I really just want to create a smoother ride and have my truck look better. Any input to help me decide?

I was in the same boat until this weekend. I decided to go with 1.75 and no rear spacer. There is a slight reverse-rake (not enough to put you into bro status). I really like the stance now. Definitely a step (or two) above stock.

Too much info

I've read through this and seem to have too much info.
I'm looking for help:

Goal:
1. Level the truck
2. Get some lift
3. Get FJ coil preferred ride.

I have a 2008 SR5 4x4

What do I need?
I have FJ coils on the way (coil only no shock).
I have no mods to date ( stock shocks, no spacers, etc.)

Will FJ coils plus daystar 2.5/1.5 be too much lift? would would be a step lower?
What about lean with this setup, do I need a spacer on driver side to prevent lean?

I'll probably be putting 265/70/17 new tires on her as my stock Duelers are shot.

If FJ coil and struts are an upgrade, has anyone just bought new replacement assemblies like these?

Daystar 1" or Toytec 3/4" With FJ Shocks and Springs

I need some help. I have a 2003 4.7L V8 Sport T4R. I have over 200,000 miles so have no problem removing the XRES system. I purchased a full a set of stock 4x4 FJ Suspension all around and wanting to install it this weekend. I have seen people say that they get more lift in the back than in the front. I have BF's All Terrains 265/70/17.

Should I:

1) Install the FJ shocks and springs with no Spacers?
2) Add Daystar KT09117BK Comfort Ride 1" Front Strut Spacer Kit?
3) Add ToyTec 3/4" front Spacers?

Also, should/How hard is it to replace the bushings on the purchased shocks? since i have them out, was wondering if its recommended and how to do so?

Many thanks!
