Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

So I want some rake but not this much...
Currently this is daystar 2.5" front spacer with superflex rear springs and a 1.5" rear spacer on the driver side.

I am installing new Tacoma TRD front springs and shocks Wednesday.

Help. I have two options.
1. Run a 1.5" spacer on top
2. Run the current 2.5" daystar spacer on top.

Which would give me the most factory rake?

Seems like with new springs over these old springs the 1.5" spacer would suffice.

Any help would be appreciated since I don't want to do the 1.5 and then need to redo it with the 2.5.

I'm thinking the 2.5 would put me nose high...

Thanks! I like a little rake personally. But not sure this much is what I want to keep.

Here's a photo of my lift...

It's about 20 degrees F here today.

I adjusted the front shocks to be one setting above the lowest.

This still maintains some rake on my T4R, which I prefer. I notice less wind noise, and I can see better in front of the truck (such as when I'm parking) with a little rake.

I'll take measurements and post photos when it warms up.

2008 T4R limited 4x4 V8.

Stock size limited tires (265/60/R18 Michellin Defender LTX M/S about 30")
FJ Cruiser Springs front & rear

Billstein 5100 shocks. Set to 0.85 for the front.

Daystar 1.5" spacer lift on the rear (goes on top of rear coil springs).

Ride-rite airride air bags inside the rear coil springs (levels out rear under load, but doesn't add any additional lift)

Measurements:

Front Driver's side: 35"
Front Passenger's Side: 35"
Rear Driver's Side" 37"
Rear Passenger's Side: 37.5"

(P.S. The 1.5" rear spacer is only $38 on Amazon. "Daystar KT09127BK Comfort Ride 1.5" Rear Coil Spring Spacer Kit"

Here's a few measurements of my own. They're a tad tainted, but here they are. All measurements were taken in a flat parking lot with about a 1/2 tank of gas and otherwise empty.

2008, V6, SR5, 4X4

FRONT:
MOOG Tacoma/FJ springs, Bilstein 4600 (from center of hub to bottom of the fender)

Front Driver: 20 3/4
Front Passenger: 21

REAR:
FJ rear springs donated by a (ahem) 'retired' FJ out in a KY donor yard paired with Bilstein 5100s (Center of hub to bottom of the fender):

Driver Rear: 22.5 (with 1.5 DS spacer)
Passenger rear: 22.5 (no spacer)

If I go with a 19/21 stock center of hub to bottom of fender measurement, I picked up 2" in the front and 1.5" in the back. Before the spacer I was at about 21.5 in the back, consistent with most FJ swaps.

I initially wasn't a believer in the 1 spacer mod to balance the weight, but after trying it, I'm sold.

The more i read about shocks, springs and such, i get more and more confused as to what i need or want to do. One of my rear xreas shocks is starting to leak. I ave read to take the system off and replace with coil overs, but if im doing all that work why not put a lil lift on it too. I just dont know.:ybrick:

Sounds like you have it figured out! :clap2:

When the Xreas is leaking it's time a good indicator to change shocks-you might as well get a lift and throw some FJ springs in there since you are in the FJ Springs Lift Info forum and all...

I have a 2008 SR5 2WD V6. This set up seems to be the minority on the forums. Been researching the FJ springs/ Bilstein 5100 lift for a while now. Ordered Bilstein 5100 front and rear, 2010 FJ Trail 4X4 front spring, and 2010 FJ 4x4 rear springs. Shooting for 2.5/1.5 lift. Any suggestions on what spacers and/or Bilstein settings I should use to get this lift? Not a lot of info on V6 2WDs.

Couple questions- I have the opportunity to get 2011 FJ springs (not TRD or TT edition) with 80K miles. That isn't very low mileage and he wants $50, is that a decent price? Where is everybody buying their 5100's?

i got fronts w/ 25k on them for $20, rears with same mileage for the same price. but i did get a good deal. head over to fjcruiserforums and post over there in the wanted section adn also try ot find the local for sale thread around you. should be easy enough to find a set with less miles for less money.

totalautomotiveperformance.com seems to have the best prices. downsouthmotorsports is a close second.

Per the front page of this thread, you can expect about 1 inch from the front and 1/4-3/4 inch in the back for a 2wd V6 from FJs, but the lift varies based on the sag of your current setup. Check out Gaterose lift, also on the front page, for .85 bilstein setting and FJs all around. If you want closer to 2.5/1.5, like you would get from a Daystar spacer kit with stock springs, I would go 1.75 setting up front (second highest) and then a 1 or 1.5 inch spacer in the back depending on the rake you want.

I think it is a good price- I spent $75 for all 4 on an 09 4x4, fronts had 75k and rear had 3k.

I got my 5100s from Wheelers Offroad -Great customer service and a friend of the forum. Highly recommend.

So here is a Tacoma sport lift. With a daystar 1.5" spacer on the rear passenger side and superflex rear springs.

Basically I got 2" of lift on the front with the Tacoma lift so I lost 1/2" of lift on the front.

I'm thinking a toytec 3/4 spacer on the front should help my issues.

So a co worker has a 2012 FJ trailteams. He did a lift kit on the way home from dealer, so stock stuff literally has 50 miles on it. Only issue is the shop kept his rear shocks for some reason, so I am getting front and rear springs, but only front shocks.

I assume I am better off just getting some 5100 rears for a 4runner..... or should I get some 5100 rears for a FJ?

Edit: just noticed Blistein actually lists the same part number for my 08 4runner as it does for the 2012 FJ

Anyone done the Icon rear shocks or toytek BOSS rear shocks with FJ springs? Reason I ask is down the road I want to get front coils anyway, so would not hurt to just get than now. Otherwise I'll just got 5100 for now I guess
