This is the video I referenced when I did my OME 885's and Bilsteins with Metal Tech LT coils. It's more or less the exact same thing but he's doing the suspension on a 3rd gen 4Runner. All the same steps! I watched this before diving in and it was a breeze! Hope this helps!! And good on you. Dad of the year for sure! [emoji471]

My parts should be arriving this week, just need to order some hardwear for all shocks. Thanks for having patience with me y'all. Lol, I'm actually in Austin and did this last weekend at the DIY Garage in North Austin. You rent lifts by the hour with tools readily available. Mechanics are there to give you insight whenever you get stuck.

Don't know that I've seen anyone else do this (maybe I just haven't seen it yet), so thought I'd share...

Currently my front setup is a pair of 5100s set at 2.5" of lift and stock springs... this left the front a little lower than the rear and it was driving me nuts... So, over the weekend I took the time to swap in some different front coils in hopes of obtaining a little more lift up front to level it out! I hate rake! So, I grabbed a pair of STOCK 5th gen SR5 coils from [MENTION=66624]KCcarguy[/MENTION] and slapped them on... luckily they worked and netted me right at 1" of lift! Also, oddly enough, I swear the ride is even smoother than before! It drives GREAT!

Your shitting me! I never even bothered to look at the avatar. I'm still getting use to this forum. I'm on TBH forum all day....Texas bow hunter. Bunch of solid guys. Well, I'm off to PINS in the morning, will be back Thursday evening. I live in Cedar Park. The DIY Gaurage sounds sweet. Didn't even know it existed. Now I find out I need break pads all around. Mauidriver, what is going to be your end setup? Moog fj coils all around and 5100 all around? What are you setting the fronts at? And are you using rear spacers with the moog rear springs?

I'm pretty sure gunna set front at the 3rd notch, which I think is 1.75ish, daystar 1.5" rear spacer. Hopeing it's not going to be too much, but from what I've seen here, it should be about right. I will definitely post some pics.

Awesome thanks. What I'm curious about is that I've read the moog fj rear springs provide about 2" lift by themselves. So I'm wondering with the Daystar spacers how high it will put the rear compared to the front.

I just bought some used fj springs but I might sell them and order the moogs instead

I'm putting together all the notes and trying to calculate that myself, but 2" seems a lot if I were to put the 1.5" daystar as well. Not sure to be honest.

Yea I have a hard time believing the moogs add 2" when they're supposed to be OEM replacements though so you'll prolly be good

You will only gain an 1" to 1.25 " with the FJ/Moog Rear Springs if a 2wd rig.
4wd rigs normally see .50"
Combine FJ spring 1.25" with Daystar 1.5" will net you 2.50" -2.75" of rear lift add that with cranking up front 5100's and FJ Coils = sitting level front to back with a 2.50" - 2.75" lift all around just shy of that 3" mark.
Ran this exact set up for a long time with stock UCA and was able to get alignment practically spec on.

There you go boys. That should cover any of the questioning and concerns

I can now shit the brain down, and stop overthinking it. Got my floor jacks today, and will be giving it a shot. Be prepared to watch this guy make some errors, throw some tools, and maybe even tear up. But I WILL DO THIS!

I just installed 2010 FJ TRD Front coilovers on my 2008 SR5 V6 4X4 with NO modifications. No grinding or anything. First post of this thread has some info that you need to modify the lower part of the shock...not true. The fit just like the older coilovers, I know because Ive done this on my old 4runner.

I am going to install the rears this weekend, I will report back if those need modification.

Also just as an FYI this is the second 4runner I have used FJ suspension and it makes a HUGE difference in ride quality, so much better. 10/10 as far as Im concerned and a must do for anyone with a 4th gen. The best budget setup you can get IMO
