Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

Hey guys

Just got all my suspension parts, 5100 f/r, acdelco FJ coils f/r, daystar 1.5" rear spacer. I want to assemble the fronts now to save some time later. Which way do I have to clock the spring perches on each front shock, or does that vary for each vehicle/coil count? I saw a video where the coil could potentially contact the hub carrier if not clocked in the right position

Not sure what you are asking. What do you mean clock and hub carrier?

What he's calling a hub carrier is a spindle aka knuckle and clock I think is meaning to make sure you lock the ring onto the correct perch or a perch that will not allow the spindle since it slants back towards the coil getting closer on the upper portion and coil to make contact..

When everything is put together it should look like this:

In this picture, if this is the front, isn't the rubber mount below the top hat already sort of integrated into the bottom of the top hat itself? In the service manual there is no separate bushing below the top hat, just on top. I bought new top hats and it only came with one separate rubber bushing per top hat, which I'm guessing goes on top. Also, is it correct that the smaller of the two washers goes on the underside of the top hat? I think it has grooves that match up that way but want to be sure. Thanks a ton!

Here's my 4Runner completed, aligned and washed up. 5100's set on 2nd perch, FJ coils all around and no daystar. Thanks so much for your guys help and motivation in making me stick with it and install on my own. Extremely happy with the ride, and final look.

5th gen rear springs fit with no issue. Just to give a heads up if anyone cant find a set of fj rear springs. Like me.

I kinda messed up my measurement when i had the stock springs i think but they had a sag. But between the ome 895e and the 5th gen their the same height. Ill double check the measurement.

For now thats what it seems a little more comfortable. I think ill keep the 895e if one day i need to load up the runner heavy. Since it didnt take me more then 30 mins to swap the rear springs. I still need to measure it i justed wanted to give it some time to settle

First picture is from ground to fender. Keep in mind i have 285/70-17

Second picture is from hub to fender the best i could

These are the measurement i said earlier that i messed up on
"Rear: hub to fender - 21 3/8 - 23 ground 36 1/8 - 37 3/4" this was comparing with stock 4runner and with the ome 895e

Got an alignment done today- they say one CA bushing is shot. Thinking about getting a new CA (or two) and I already have a set of FJ TRD springs/struts on there. I see a new set (75K on the old set) but the new set does not have the strut springs or top hat assembly. I don't know if the old bushings/bearings in the assembly are shot. Can the CAs be bought separately?

So I need two new CAs and would like to pick up a new set of struts/shocks. These 2013 FJ takeoffs are very new, so am tempted.

I bought these fj cruiser springs and shocks on Craigslist a while ago and he didn't tell me which year his fj was. Would anyone know which years these came off of?

Could you elaborate on your results? TIA.

Another question. Are the rear bilstein shocks from the FJ comparable to 5100 rear shocks? If so I just made a big mistake buying new shocks when I could have just used these.

For the most part yes in how they feel, but I don't think the oem rear bilsteins are a true 0"-2" lift shock to where as the new one you purchased are. Plus your better off with the new ones imho cause used rear shocks aren't the best they carry all the weight and take a beating, you could always put the used ones in drive around for a few days to get a feel for them then install the new 5100's just so you can feel it's the better option and know you didn't waste your money.
Good luck and enjoy your new set up
