Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

All I know of, is that Moog only has FJC springs. Not FJC 2wd and FJC 4wd springs. I have part number 81108 and 81081. Does rate matter more than the overall length of the spring? I was under the impression that bilstein doesn't recommend using the higher perch with a longer/taller spring.

Ya so you do have the 4x4 ones (81008. 660lbs per inch) the 81092 is for a 2wd fj and 590lbs per inch. rear is only one type.

I'm surprised we both get virtually the same lift with such a different perch setting. Do your coils bottom out?

If oem is 590 lbs per inch, then the perch at 2.5 is holding 1475lbs of preload. 660lbs per inch is 1650lbs.If you had a 590lbs per inch that was an inch longer than oem, it would be holding about 2000 of preload. yikes...

Seriously the same lift? Thats interesting. My coils do not bottom out AFAIK.

For some reason, I'm thinking that the perch can hold more than 2000lbs, even with the little dinky clip.

I’ve tried searing but there are just too many pages to read through. Going to be installing some 2012 TT springs and shocks on my moms 03 tomorrow and was looking for clarification on the rear enlargement of the top mounting hole. Any suggestions on the best way to do it?

After doing this lift do you have to upgrade your sway bar links? And if so what ones did you get??

I'm getting some 2007 FJ rear links to match the rear FJ springs I'm installing. But what is everyone doing for there front links?

After doing a lot of research, I have read that there are many people having issues with the Moog FJ rear springs. Many people have said they could not get the bottom of the spring to seat properly. Has anyone tried the ACDelco rear replacement springs?

I completed the front install of my 1.5" StreetRays Spacers and 2013 FJ Springs with matching Bilsteins. I expected to get about 2.5" total but sure seems higher than that lol. I didn't take BEFORE pics so I have to comparison but I'll edit later with AFTER numbers.

Tomorrow I'll be finishing up the rear with Bilsteins and FJ Springs with Daystar 1.5

Well instead of drilling out the upper shock mounts, I did use the 4runner washer and the FJ rubber bushings by pulling them apart. I know someone else explained doing that, however they said they used a chisel and a vise. I had neither, so I used pliers and a heat gun. Worked like a charm. Bushing jumped off washer when it got hot.

So far my measurements are

Front Fender to ground 38"

Rear Fender to ground 38 1/2"

Looks great. Still looks like a few inches of rake there, which I like. Can you say anything about the ride?

It rides amazing! Far better that stock in my opinion. Front clip is at .85. No spacers. And it definitely eats up the road better in my opinion

I am purchasing a set of 2011 FJ coilovers, rear springs and rear shocks for my 05 runner. Has anybody done a write-up on the modifications needed on 2010+ shocks for fitment on 4th gen 4runners?? If so can you please refer me to it. Thanks!

Just did the trd pro kit on my 03 and I just needed to enlarge the upper shock mount hole a little bit. It was a very easy mod.

Just installed some 2012 FJ 4x4 springs (take offs, so basically brand new) with some Bilstein 5100s on the 3rd perch (1.75”). Took a measurement and they were taller than what I’ve seen posted. 14.25” on the driver side and 14” on the passenger side.

Was planning on getting about 2.5” out of it, but ended up at 3” pretty dead on (36.5” from ground to fender). I have 265/70/17 so I have about 1/2” from those.

Very pleased with the ride quality, not harsh as I’ve heard some complain. I use to have an Audi A4 with H&R coil overs and 18” BBS wheels so I’m well aquatinted with stiff/harsh rises and this is no where near that. It’s barely stiffer than the Taco TRD Off Road springs, but the dampening from 5100s is a much needed relief from the float. Can feel small bumps a bit more as the springs aren’t progressive like the Tacos.

Anyway, here are some picks. Install was much easier the 2nd time around, 3 hours taking my time. Added some 1.25” spidertrax and picked up some Trail Edition wheels to replace the corroded SE wheels, going to have those mounted tomorrow.

AC Delco Springs

I just picked up an 04 4Runner with 170k miles. Overall the truck is pretty clean, going through preventative maintenance (checking all bushings/joints/all fluids change, etc) to get it ready for another 100k.

Suspension is TIRED. Kinda bounces around. I am going to do Bilstein 5100 up front set on .85 with FJ front and rear. I don’t have a good source of OEM takeoffs so was looking at AC Delco springs especially for the rears.

I haven’t seen any reviews of the AC Delco parts here. Is there anybody who went this route on the rears? I’m about to bite the bullet and buy new OEM Toyota $$$.

AC Delco is generally a good quality brand.
