Complaint #1-dash noise

Glad it's resolved. At least you didn't go to the dealer and raise hell about a dash rattle on a $40k + SUV, make the service manager ride with you to confirm the rattle only to find out it was the sunglasses!

or have them take apart more pieces and cause more rattles

I have a rattle coming from the passenger side as well. It is very subtle and only happens at certain speeds. It sounds like teeth chattering. It almost sounds like the passenger seat is rubbing on something, but I am not 100% sure.

Ok I have the same rattle and it's NOT sunglasses in holder. I have nothing in my glovebox except the leather book case that came with the car, I have even taken that out and it still rattles. I have taken everything out of my center console and the stupid rattle is still there. I have had someone else drive while I rode in the passenger seat and tried to locate the rattle, it seems like it's in the latch of the glovebox. I know as soon as I take it to the dealership they are going to take one look at my 4R and then at me and say "she's just a girl and doesn't know what she's talking about" but it's driving me CRAZY!

If anyone else has any suggestions I'm up for trying just about anything.

Let me know what you find. Maybe its a magnetic gray thing? :wink2:

Heard a 'rolling rattle' while on a vacation weekend, turned out to be an Acorn stuck in the grove under the roof rack rolling backwards and forwards :) Guess that is what happens when it spends the night in the great outdoors, not in a garage!

I just went out to the garage and yes you are right, it is the latch of the glovebox. I am glad I found it..now on to a fix

This has been discussed before. Check your passenger-side seat belt latch. It rattles against the door pillar. Comes-and-goes, annoying.

The noise from the seat belt seems like a deeper noise.

in any case, it is NOT the latch of the center console as originally thought. I had it open and I still heard the chattering

I did that with my 4th gen. Drove me nuts for weeks - so I had my wife drive while I searched for the "loose" part. Turned out to be the sunglasses! What a waste of time on my part. But I was relived to know there was no problem with the 4R.

Un-****ing believable. I had a rattle which sounded like it was coming from above the glovebox or passenger's side A-pillar. Guess what. Sunglasses in the above compartment. It's unique how the sound refracts (I think) in such a way as to seem like it's coming from somewhere else.
