crashman build thread 05 sport

I was checking for clearance and trying to measure for limiting straps but I still need to go up another 4-5"

Ok so I finally got around to the rear vent mod I didn't like the way the vent looked next to the filler so I did it different

I got the truck to balance on 2 tires and if you watch the front starts to go backwards as the rear rolls forward

How do you like that metaltech rear suspension setup? I was checking it out and I can't believe how cheap it is! Might have to be my next big mod to get rid of the rear spacer. lol Does it hold weight well still? I have the V8 and have a trailer I tow for work. Nothing to big, just a 14' that is like 3-4 thousand lbs depending on what I have in it at the moment.

you have a 05 like I do so to get the remote shocks to work without breaking you have to get the rear shock mounts moved it took me 3 sets of broken shocks to figure this out

the springs work great the more weight you put on them the firmer they get

Oh, I seen the broken shock, didn't realize why. What did you do to move the mount?

I had to bring it up to addicted off-road and Scott cut out the old shock mount then boxed the opening an welded a new mount to move it 1" out from the frame

I needed the 2.5" for the weight of the bumper and gear when I'm fully loaded I tried the 2" shocks but the rear bounced all around to the point I heard the bumper slapping the water when I did the water crossing and when I came down off a ledge or rock I would hit the 2.5" handled it much better!
I did upgrade to the compression dampening control shocks (CDC) so I can play around with them but now I have something new to learn about lol

What if I used the kit without the reservoir? This one: FJ Cruiser Rear Long Travel Suspension Kit - Stage 4 - Metal Tech 4x4
and do you need the lower arms? There is this kit too: http://www.metaltech4x4.com/p-481-fj-cruiser4runner-rear-long-travel-suspension-stage-2.aspx

Those both have the 2" shocks which will work with no mods if you don't have a rear bumper
I think the radflo remote will work also I just didn't want different brands front and rear
The lower control arms will help binding at full flex and move easier

Do you know what the difference is between the stages? It has the same description for each one...
