OP: I thank you for this thread and it did help me.

I find the video giving me the same feeling as when we used the DAC (down hill assist) button for the first time in my SR5. Feeling then and now is that I will probably NEVER use that button again.......haha. We used it on Schnebly Hill Road and it was a serious amount of noise.

Makes me thankful I did not get the Trail, I personally do not need the Trail features for my comfortable level of off roading we do in my $37K daily driver.

I like being in control of vehicle. If I didn't, I would just sit back and be a passenger.

Best part about this thread and the video is that when I started watching video, my cat heard it, she freaked out and thought there was another cat purring behind her.

I engaged Crawl by a friend the other day. When I came to a stop, he thought I had broken my vehicle. Glad OP posted this because most modern vehicles are so tamed down that basically any noise out of the ordinary people equate with disaster.

I ran CC for the first time in Moab a few weeks ago on Fins and Things. Used it on some of the steepest slickrock descents (no obstacles) that we encountered. Noise was a bit disconcerting but the owner's manual had given me a heads up.

It worked remarkably well for controlling the descent. My wife could not believe my foot was off the brake. I doubt anyone could feather a brake pedal manually that well. Consider that on the lowest setting (1 km/hr) you are talking about just 0.6 mph. I don't think we're geared low enough to get a 1st gear descent at that speed without braking.

Exactly! And in some situations it will keep you from sliding during the descent because it's keeping the wheels from locking up, similar to ABS. The only time I'll never consider using crawl control is a steep downhill on snow/ice. In those situations using any brakes at all will turn you into a bobsled.

Pretty easy to add a front camera. You can also do the full 360 with image splicing for about $600.

Sure, fact is nothing is better than plug-n-play. Those side cams are built into the side view mirrors, that is pretty sweet.

Another thumbs up for CC on steep descents. It's not just the feathering of the brakes it's that it's doing it independently for each wheel which a driver cannot do.
