Crazydubman's 97 limited runner build

Ya they are pretty heavy. A lot of the weight is from the center rubber beadlock. Probably 8-10lbs right there. Maybe in the distant future I may look into having some PVC ones made like the 16.5 steel hummer wheels out there.

Ya your skid took a pretty good hit. I will keep an eye on everything when I'm out in Slick Rock at the end of the month.

I have pondered a super charger but to get a complete setup working right with all the bells and whistles, I would think that a 4.0 or 4.7 swap would be right in the same ball park, around 5-6k right? You would then have more power and all in stock form.

I definitely will be regearing to 4.88's due to the extra weight and trying to pull hills. for some reason my coolant temps like to start creeping up on long climbs. May need to swap in a new radiator at some point as well. I think its the original. The cooling system (Tstat and water pump) was already gone through when I did the head gaskets.

Story of my life...haha

Now that everything has sold, updates will be a lot slower now on the runner. Its about done except for a tire carrier and gears. Engine swap will have to wait for a long while still.

Plus I don't think I would want to do all the work to just swap a 4.0. Figure with knowing it would fit, a 4.7 vvti would be the logical choice like what's in my 06.

5.7!!!!!!!! haha :high5:

any word on the sliders?

I think they were going to be around 250 for the pair. I have been buried all week and haven't had a chance to make it over there. You would be welding them on correct? So all that is needed is a "DIY" kit?

I would love a 5.7 but I don't believe that it will fit. Especially not with the IFS still in place. Its fairly wide from what I remember reading.

yeah just ready to weld on would be fine

Sounds good. Ill make a call.

Edit:
Just measured and I have 67" ones but you will probably be ok with 65" ones. (Mine were made for the 06 so they are a little longer)

Left a voicemail and just waiting to see what lengths they have and whether they have a set in stock and ready.

sweet. thanks.

Got the beadlocks mounted finally and am loving them.

Only thing is that I'm not really sold on the airsoft bb balancing technique....

So far i have only driven about 15 miles around town but not sure i'm gonna like them. I will try them this week to work and back but if I am still not ok with them, I will be pulling them apart, removing the BB's and having them balanced with sticky weights next Saturday...

Anyways, here are the pictures of the setup.

Enjoy :D

They look tough as hell Todd, how many ounces of BB do you have in each tire? I was hoping use about 8oz per corner when i upgrade to new tires in the future.

Thanks Nate,

I used 9oz because of the weight of the beadlocks. Still unsure about them though. Got a bit more driving today and they seem to be fairly inconsistent.

I can start from a light and I will get a back and forth movement in the steering wheel when im up to speed, stop at the next light then start again and it will be glass smooth. Then stop at the next light and start again and the wobble is back.

Really strange for sure. Like I said, I will try it out the rest of the week, but I may just pull them apart and remove the BB's in favor of some stick on weights.

Looks great!!! I cant wait to mount your old wheels on my truck.

Thanks Rod,

Glad to see that someone will enjoy the old wheels as much as I did. Definitely liked them, but I would have taken too much of a hit on the Hutchinson's and figured I might as well put them to use. :surfer:

I should be shipping the Racelines out Tuesday. I'll make sure you get the tracking numbers for the two packages when I get them sent.

Went to Hollister with Drew, Mikey and Jon yesterday and had some fun. Needed to test out the new goods before slick rock next weekend.

Thanks to drew for these pictures and video. :bigok:

Got a chance to head up to slick rock this weekend with a few friends to have some fun. Good times for sure.

Had a few close calls, almost rolled backwards on the stair steps and broke my first CV. At least I was smart enough to pick up a couple spares before I left.

Had issues with overheating on the way up there. Had to pull over 3-4 times to let the runner cool down. Need to look into a new radiator soon I think as all the other cooling system components were changed out during the head gasket change.

Everyone got lots of pictures and a few videos.

Anyways on with the pictures. Videos will be posted as they are loaded.

Heading up there with the group.

This was I think the 3rd time we had to stop and let it cool down.

Out on the trail.

Heading up the stair step

And down

The carnage and me changing it out.

Just watched the V-notch video from a few days ago, and there are no words to describe what those beadlocks do for the look of your rig. Absolutely killer, I think I'm in love. Those tires look meaty as hell too. In the video it looked as if your took all of the inner plastic out of the front fender wells and maybe cut the flares? Any pics of that because that looks like you have great clearance and the fenders aren't all cut to pieces. Sick looking rig man.
